amazing card for its time, while a little outdated by the time of this reveiw its still vr ready and suits 99% of all my needs, looking to upgrade? save a little and go for the rtx 2060 or amd 5700, looking for a good price for the first pc? you found it

I've had this card for a few years and it still does okay. I will probably upgrade it at some stage, whenever there is a game I want to play that won't run on it.
It only just fit in the case. I didn't need to modify the case or the dust filter though. The power connector is right under the frame of the case, so I had to remove the card temporarily, connect the power cable and then squash the power cable under the frame. I think it looks great through the side of the case lit up by the RGB.
One thing that is slightly annoying is that this GPU has Zero Frozr, which causes the fans to stop spinning unless they are needed. I'm finding that in this case they start and stop a few times a minute. I might play around with the fan settings or turn off Zero Frozr if this becomes too annoying.

Not the fastest but I have a PS4 for gaming so...

Supports 8gb of GDDR5 for a cheap price, combine two of them and they are even better. On top of that they are cheaper than a 1080 together. The MSI Gaming X looks great and always attracts customers to its design. We have a 1070 Gaming X in a Core P5 for that reason. Back to the 480 though, it may not be as fast as a 1060, however it makes up for in the dedicated memory and with two of them you have a massive amount for anything you need. They are super easy to setup in crossfire as it is now done through the board and bridges are no longer needed. The board detected them straight away and had them setup and ready to go. I do regret not being able to have my hands on some 580's instead, but these still did the job and looked good doing it.

The one issue with my system, this card just loves to stop working at random intervals any time while putting a heavy load onto it. It isn't really that big of an issue because very few games of mine really push it so far it kills itself but it is still super ******* annoying. (Sorry for language!) I think from what I have seen onto the internet that it is an issue with the card pulling too much power from the PCIE slots (which makes sense) and not the actual VGA power cable. But trying to flash a new bios onto it is super Big_Sketch™ to me for the simple fact that MSI's site doesn't have any info on bios's for this card and I would have to get one through some bootleg 3rd party site. Once the GPU crisis finally dies I am going to save for a MSI 1080 Duke and i'll sell this for LODS EMONEY to some miner.
Also it is worth mentioning I got it for MSRP almost 2 months after it was released. I tried to put it into the junk system I mentioned before, but the power draw issue was so more pronounced it was practically useless, not to mention that the bottleneck was so bad the r7 370 I used in the mean time (from a friend) would give me the exact same performance.
If anyone wants it, check my profile bio. Miners will flash a new bios onto it anyways and this will resolve the power draw issue for sure.

One of the coolest and coldest GPUs I've had in my life. Can run every game I throw at it with maxed settings on a 1080p/144hz monitor. Bought it as soon as it came out, the software was crazy, but it improved. Lighting is okay, but not something I was worried about. 8GB is plenty!

I give them the same review as last time, except that now my build is RGB and MSI remove color shift and rainbow wave effects from their software. Ruins my color scheme except when they're off.

Works fine, but beware the fan can be a little loud, but it does keep the gpu at a good temperature, as I have not seen it go above 71 c .
