I've been PC gaming for about 15 years, but I've always cobbled together outdated parts on the cheap. My previous build had a sad AMD Phenom II X4 955 with a GTX 650ti. I upgraded the GPU to the RX 580, which helped a bit, but my CPU was not doing this card justice. This new build will primarily be for 1080p 60Hz gaming. The idea was to build something that would work well and have a solid upgrade path.

CPU - Ryzen 5 1600

Micro Center is selling this for an unbelievable $79.99. I was able to OC it to 3.7GHz at 1.35v on the stock cooler. I could possibly push a bit harder, but Prime95 peaks just short of 85C. I may invest in a better cooler, but I'll probably just wait until I upgrade the CPU (AM4 socket leaves me with plenty of room to grow).

MOBO - MSI GAMING PRO CARBON AC

Micro Center combo brought this down to $109.99. It's overkill for my 1600, but should serve me well for future upgrades. I really have no complaints... there is a reason people praise this thing.

MEMORY - CRUCIAL BALLISTIX SPORT LT - DDR4 3200 - CAS 16 - 16GB

I took a chance on a less popular choice and it worked out fine. XMP got these to the advertised speed without any issues. I might be able to tighten the timings, but I didn't feel like it was worth the effort.

SSD - CRUCIAL MX500

I absolutely wanted an M.2 SSD for speed and form factor. A 1TB NVMe drive would have been nice, but the price difference just isn't worth it right now. I tend to stick to one or two games at a time, so I'm not too worried about space.

GPU - XFX RADEON RX 580 8GB

This was a carry over from my previous build. I spent a lot of time messing with overclocking before getting a stable 1450mhz core, 2250mhz memory, and undervolted to 1100mV.

CASE - NZXT H500

Airflow could be better, but man this is a nice looking case. Cable management is super easy, which is a plus because I am not great at that.

PSU - EVGA SUPERNOVA 850W

It was on sale... Absolute overkill, but it should last ages, I definitely don't need to worry about capacity, and it is virtually silent in Eco mode.

Nice build. I like the subdued RGBs. Nothing too bright to blind you. I see you went with the stock CPU cooler and case fans. What's the temperature like with no front intake fans?

I had two coolermaster fans lying around, so I have added them to the front. Temps are the same, but all of my fans are running at lower speed now.

Idle is usually 40 or so degrees Gaming temp is usually below 65 Metro Exodus, stressing the hell out of my PC, it's below 75 Prime 95 torture test hits 85.

Looks super clean which is a good thing i personally like it as long as it delivers for what your needs are no problem here. I would just add some cable extension which you can get for as low as $25 and get two more intake fans for the front, rgb's are supper cheap i would leave some suggestions at the bottom with link included.

I'm looking for something similar, do you still recommend 500gb ssd or 1tb ssd.
