I would choose the black version of the viewsonic anyway. But the reason i changed them is that the viewsonic monitor is IPS and not a tn panel whilst the BenQ is tn panel. Here's a couple of videos explaining the differences https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8Y26Uq07Kw
Choose which ever one you like the most, not much of a difference either way.
Here is a slightly modified parts list http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/hfXTBP
I can change it to make it cheaper if you wish.
The used gtx 970 isn't water cooled, it's a blower style card. Though I agree with what you are saying about 80c being very high. If the guy gets back to me, I'll try it out before I buy it.
Okay, thanks for your help
Or would a brand new r9 380 (4gb) be the best option at £150
Or would a brand new r9 380 at £150 be the best option?
Okay cheers, I'll try it out first anyway
Will the blower gtx 970 be very loud?
The only problem with the used gtx 970 is that it is a blower style card and it may be very loud. I'll try it out before I buy it
I was thinking that, cheers for the help
I know the gtx 1060 offers more performance, but do you think it's worth the extra £100 over the used gtx 970?
Okay, I'll go for the used gtx 970 then
You could change to the ASUS Z170i for a few pounds cheaper https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/TykwrH/asus-motherboard-z170iprogaming and those versions of those storage devices (850 PRO, WD Black) are for specific reasons, so unless you need it or just want it, you could be spending less on them. And you obviously know you could spend less on the ram, but you spend more for aesthetics so that's your choice. But great build anyway, nothing wrong with it, just could be made cheaper if you wanted to.
Hello there, here is a better list. http://pcpartpicker.com/list/CX8mGf
I would have went with a h170 or b150 motherboard but it doesn't seem to be any cheaper than this z170 board, and this allows you to overclock in the future without needing a new motherboard. I was able to get you a much more powerful graphics card aswell, BUT, if you can wait long enough - GET THE RX 480 FOR $199. I don't know if you want to buy your os that way, that's your choice. Also, you'll only need an optical drive if you use one now, you can just download games etc, so you only need one if you need one. If you need one, just pick an under $20 one that has decent enough reviews and seems to be quiet. Also, with the left over $50 you could get an aftermarket cooler just to make things quieter, but that's not needed (just your choice).
It sounds bad what with everyone wanting RGB lighting, but I don't like lighting inside my PC. Though thanks for the suggestion.
Thank you for your in depth response. I made the dust filters myself and I sort of agree with your statement on the two 80mm fans. If i had just spent the money on a nicer cpu cooler instead, I think that would have been the better option, though the fans are quiet.
The build's good and if you got the msi b150i gaming pro, it won't support windows 7 off of a usb boot but it does support windows 7. So that will be your problem.
Hello there, I've tried to build you a list to your requirements. However, I am not sure if you needed peripherals or a monitor. Here is option #1 http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/23rgXH I have chose some parts for their looks and their convenience but you can cut down the price a fair bit. Here is option #2 http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/WnZypb which has some of the cheaper yet still capable parts instead of the more expensive ones. You can cut away a bit more as well if you really want.
Here is a much more rounded out PC. http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/RnMdnn
I'll find about by adding them to a partlist and see if PCPartpicker detects any problems
Custom made or diy? Or did you buy them online? And yeah it's a nice case.
I've found some good ones from bit fenix on amazon after looking around, cheers for the other website I'll check themy out as well.
Thanks and I'm not sure on the prices of the used cards, though hopefully they're dead cheap after the new cards come out.
Does anyone know where I could get some custom sleeved psu cables in the UK? I'd only need the 24 pin and the cpu cable.
Cheers for the +1 and yeah, it took at least 3 hours to zip tie and organise all the cables into sections. It's worth it though as it looks really clean and it is easy to keep clean.
It's not a poster, it's this old map I have had from years ago, I'll probably get rid of it to make the setup look better, cheers for the input.
Cheers and yeah I'm waiting for either price drops or for the 1070, though I'm in no rush
You reckon the better versions with the good coolers will be at the $379/£270 price? Or will that be for the lesser versions of the card?
Unless you have a top mounted exhausting case fan, your CPU cooler is oriented wrong. It should be oriented in away where it pulls the air though the fins then the exhausting case fans will pull the air out.
Aha I see your predicament. Though, I think it'll be hard to top the "WOW" factor the "Founder's Edition" has and if you need a blower style card it'd be a good choice. The only problem would be if the good versions (FTW, Strix, Gaming 8G etc) cost the $599 because then the $100 difference is harder to justify.
Cheers, a few of the better YouTubers are the likes of JayzTwoCents and PaulsHardware and Awesomesauce Network and Techsource. Well at least they helped me out a fair bit.
Yeah, no problem. When you are looking for drivers etc, just go to the brands website and type in the product, once you've found you part hit the support button and then hit drivers. Then get the ones that you need and are the newest. If you don't know which ones to get, get the obvious ones first like 'WiFi drivers' then try to guess and if that doesn't work, I'm sure google can help you aha.
Happy Building, and ask me anything else if you want and I'll try my best to help you out.
Yeah, you think they'll come out before the end of June?
Here's where you get the drivers for the motherboard https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/B150I-GAMING-PRO-AC.html#down-driver&Win10 64
Here's where you get the drivers for the CPU http://ark.intel.com/products/88184/Intel-Core-i5-6500-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_60-GHz#@downloads now that I think about it, I haven't got any from that website aha, I just used the ones which came off of the MSI website.
Here's where you'll get the drivers for the ASUS mini gtx 950 http://www.asus.com/uk/Graphics-Cards/MINI-GTX950-2G/HelpDesk_Download/
And you should be able to watch videos etc in 4k and you could technically game at 4k though you wont get good fps at all, barely 5fps. So for games I would change the in game resolution to 1080p.
Ok i'll get the gtx 1070 then, how long do you think it'll take until the MSI, EVGA equivalents of the cards are released?
Awh cheers, means a lot. And yeah, it's a 40" Sony TV that I got about 3 years ago. At the time it was one of the better TVs so it's still good enough now and I won't be changing it until I upgrade to 1440p.
Ok i'll wait for the gtx 1070 then. If it's not faster than the gtx 980ti should I get one of those used for around £280-£300? Or is it going to be faster than the gtx Titan X aswell as the gtx 1080?
If you look at my parts list and click on the splitter, it should take you to amazon where I got it. And if you look through the photos you'll see the splitter and where I routed the cables. The cable management gets better the further the photos go. Also, could you hit the up arrow on my build, trying to see if I could get close to a feature aha.
Here's the link to my build https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/b/gqTH99
I used the splitter for the CPU fan and for the two 80 mm fans and the splitter connects to the cpu_fan1 header then the 200mm intake fan connects into the sys_fan1
Cheers, means a lot.
I've uploaded it and called it "The Little Cube That Could"
Never mind, it is uploading them now.
I have like another 50 photos which are still trying to be uploaded
Here, I'm still looking trying to upload photos and I never finished, what happened?
I looked it up online there on the MSI website https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B150I-GAMING-PRO-AC.html#hero-overview and it has Bluetooth 4.2 already apparently. I'm going to assume that most motherboards that have wifi built in will have Bluetooth but I'm not 100% certain on that.
I'm done now actually so I'll start putting together the upload
Took my photos but I'm away out to get more zip ties as I need about 10 more and I only have 4 left. I took all my photos but realised I could fix the ssd so that it was seen and hide the cables behind it. I'll definitely have it uploaded before eight this evening
