What a beast! So much OP goodness here. Also, I missed the story about the franken-cooler, what's going on here?
Thank you. No, I'm taking submissions though - so far Planty McPlantface has the lead.
Don't worry, when it goes to ****, I'm gonna hassle you for help ;)
Naw thanks man.
Did you have to do the bios update or was it good to go out of the box?
Flash looking server! Never mind the borked HDMI, just keep it headless and SSH in for proper hacker charm!
Thanks for the history lesson, but no scientist that deals with climate fails to grasp the natural cycle our planet goes through. This is the very data they leverage off to point out there's a problem. There is consensus, every ligitimate source has consensus. Basically, they're saying we're doing it, and we need to change what we're doing or there will be consequences that we don't have data for since it's so far outside the realms of said history.
Trumpy has quite the rumpy.
It is today's version of Tobacco being linked to cancer. It was once the tobacco industry vs. the science - now it's another invested party doing anything it can to survive and make money in an otherwise fiscally hostile environment. The same process, same tactics, different generation.
Lies perpetuated by the corpulent western bourgeois. All you need it do is seize the means of production, and you too can have bbq pork rolls comrade.
"Is anything I should do when putting this thing together?"
"Anything I need to to do when I first boot it up"
-The best spicey pork rolls you'll ever eat for the last two.
Basically the far East has it locked down food wise.
Have fun with it, or don't. It doesn't matter that much. I've just punched it in the gaps before and so long as it's not blocking airflow, that's fine too really.
I make 2 posts after a year and BAM it's more toxic now.
May your crashes, bloat and security flaws live on in the next generations. Amen
My year 8 maths teacher.. Mr Burr. A really smart guy, likeable and was an all round good dude that went out of his was to actually teach people. I of course, was a **** head year 8 maths student who was disruptive, lazy and would rather be doing anything else than learning.
On a particularly rowdy day, he pulled me aside, put on a really sturn face and queitly told me that I was a failure, and that my ’she'll be right attitude will get me no where in life’.. and that was it, left me in the hall.
I’m still reeling all these years later.
Look. Not gonna lie, TLDR
I feel you though. Work is a jerk, now matter what you do.. meanwhile, there's other outlets that I feel may suit your needs:
... If only you knew how shifty Tom looks irl
Common folk don't need to know these petty details Gork... but we will need you in the upcoming conflict to absorb some bullets.
Imagine buying in to them to profit off all of this.. Lives of your fellow brothers and sisters laid down for flash watches (and re-election campaigns)..
My allegiance is to the Republic, to DEMOCRACY!
(also, nah, he's fine)
I have oats
Whats up fam? :)
Nice, It looks super clean. Congrats guys
I'm literally 'squeeee' right now... and I'm a full grown man...
Maybe not in the long run, but you will.
Vagabond is just clearly frustrated more than anything. He needs to rest on the plains of Sane Builds, a land where people think out their builds and research with gusto and dedication before posting random, mindless garbage. May he sleep well and bring us all sunshine and ecc rainbows (hue+ pun intended )..
Super micro is a good place to start for a proper server build. You need to sus out your requirements in terms of data throughput, storage space and stability. Then you can plan a build to meet them. We could just shoot you a $4k build but you may either hate the result or have wasted cash that you could of spent elsewhere.
Nice build man! I gotta know the lighting set up that you've run with, it's not overwhelming and has created a nice atmosphere inside the case. I just wanna float!
What did you put in there??
There's no GPU fitted here, but airflow is not great if it were. A blower is ideal for a side set up though.
Yeah but have you seen RGB RGBs??
My problem is starting, and stopping brings about the need to start again. Once I break, I'm done, screw it. Distractions+
For something like work or a project, once I get going, I'm a freight train of productivity. I don't get off that fully steaming train until I get to my destination - even if that means staying back and pulling big hours. I also work better under pressure since that's a great motivator. I play mind games and find a way pressure myself on little things like getting my washing done or starting a project. Larger jobs have their own stresses and pressures, so that's a little easier. ha
Welp, I've been away from here for longer so, na :P
"Better not try to control anything then, it'd pointless because bad people!" - said no government ever.
How is it about cars now? Saying that we should do nothing because: cars, it's just deflection. Modify what you can control, again, there is no magic bullet.
Can't blame inaction on money, that's not the question - that's part of a solution that would have to be teased out in the back end. Making a decision on what to do about this issue is the first step. You either do something (possibly a multifaceted solution with long term goals of cultural change)... Or do nothing, and we do it all again at the next mass shooting.
Bit late to the party BUT....
It's on the water near Tom Miller Dam. Great views, great food and I remember a super tasty local craft beer. There was a whiskey bar in town that I got wwaaaaaay too drunk at, but I have zero idea where that is...
I scoff at that last statement, and would counter with - do you honestly believe the population will overthrow the US government (and it's military) with small arms? Do you see this USA doomsday scenario actually happening?
You're assuming that a ban is being suggested as a magic bullet.. (pardon the pun)...
What if it's not? You cannot modify a culture over night, but would it not be a step in the direction of change?
Way too humble a build for a mid life crisis - but a great build none the less ;)
Beautiful, what a cool build and concept. Memories that you guys will look back on fondly no doubt! Awesome work. +EleventyBillion
I'm assuming you're making this assumption on some factual grounds of some kind?
Picking your next build is an adventure! Take your time and don't stress on the little points. Have fun with it! :)
This is what I'd build for me - the main storage might be small for some, but there's plenty of room for expansion later. Hell, If you can spot the extra cash. look at the 500GB option.
PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant
I drive on the left side of the road, it's just fine in this country..
+1 on the title XD
Best way to learn is to try out these things. +1 on basic linux build.
can vouch on Mint! I brought an old laptop back to life by ditching windows and trying a few distros out before settling. It's no beast but it's is super for browsing, general PC and streaming. I've not used fedora though so I guess try it out, see if you're happy and go from there!
I don't know much about the 3200Mhz issue but the OEM validated list is the safe bet, although it's not the final say on what you can and can't use. It's just a guaranteed tried and proven list of Parts that the OEM of the mobo supports. This is not an exclusive list, to do that would be far too lengthy and costly.
You can use different brands with minimal fuss and so long as you're within the specs of the mobo, you'll be fine for the most part. No OEM promises though.
That mobo! Why don't they make em in those colours anymore??
I still love seeing these updates. Warms the heart knowing there's people like you guys out there doing what you can. Keep up the good work :)
+1 slippers, the man knows whats up.
Nice work on the build btw ;)
Is this becoming a thing?
