Easy out of the box 5.0ghz OC. What else is there to say? No need to go through the silicon lottery. A bit pricey, but worth it if you don't want to mess with overclocking.

Easy Silicon Lottery winner ticket right here. You pay to win basically. No need to meddle in the BIOS to overclock the 9900K. It has higher TDP than the 9900K but if you put a half decent cooler on it, then everything will run fine.

Had to pay way too much since everyone raised the aftermarket price on this. Extra $150 over what it was meant to be sold at...
As for the actual CPU we chose it because it is amazing for gaming and that is the ONLY thing my friend is doing with it but in reality it isn't a great price for the value given the 3900x from Ryzen exists.

Pre-overclocked CPU? Heck yeah. I'm sure many experienced overclockers are eyerolling at the KS but if you're an extremely anxious builder like me, it's perfect knowing that this has been professionally overclocked.

I'm sure this will be the most contentious choice of my build. I know folks love the new Ryzen CPUs, and that they're significantly cheaper, but for my purposes (purely high resolution, high framerate single-player gaming) my research continually informed me that the I9-9900 CPU from Intel suited me best.
And as a nervous nelly who prefers not to mess with overclocking, I was prepared to pay the premium to have Intel overclock the chip to 5.0ghz straight from the factory. Thus far, it's been performing admirably, and I have no complaints. For others it may not be worth the extra cost, but for me I believe it was.

Slightly lower voltages needed for OC compared to base 9900K resulting in a few C temp difference. Excellent!
