Guide

Excellent Intel Gaming/Streaming Build

Description

CPU

At this budget, we're running the Intel Coffee Lake Refresh i5-9600K. The 9600K features 6 cores and will perform exceptionally well with all your gaming needs. Since it is overclockable and does not include a stock cooler, the Noctua NH-U12S has been added to the list. A cooler of this stature will allow a high overclock without overheating or becoming noisy.

Note: If you'd prefer to consider a similar build, but instead using an AMD Ryzen processor, be sure to check out our Excellent AMD Gaming Build Guide.

Motherboard

We're using a parametric filter to constantly select the best-priced motherboard while meeting selected criteria. In this case, we are filtering for Z390 chipsets for its enabled overclocking and to avoid potential BIOS update issues. The parametric filter also checks for 4 DDR4 DIMM slots for future expansion. The compatibility engine will filter out anything not compatible with the build. The motherboards are also capable of using the CPU's integrated GPU, in case you need to RMA your GPU or are waiting for a sale or upgrade.

Memory

Memory needs are slowly but constantly increasing, and we want to stay ahead of the curve. To this end we're using a parametric filter to choose a 16GB kit of memory within Intel's recommended specifications at the best price. The filter will only select 2x8GB kits, allowing us to leave room for extra DIMMs for future expansion.

Storage

We're use parametric filters to incorporate an SSD with at least 500GB of space. We have also added a parametric filter for a 3TB mechanical drive for mass storage, such as extra games and videos. Everyone's storage needs differs, so feel free to add or remove capacity to your heart's desire.

GPU

For our GPU, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER is one of the best price for performance cards on the market. The RTX 2060 SUPER will provide a consistent 60fps on many demanding games like PUBG) at Ultra at 1080p, and even 1440p for some games like Apex Legends. It'll also handle Fortnite with zero issues. For those interested in VR, this card will have no problem playing any and and all applications currently on the market.

For streaming, the newly-updated NVENC encoding will offload the task to the GPU with a minimal performance hit using OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) while providing image quality similar to or better than x264 Fast quality.

To keep the noise and temperatures down, we've updated the filter to include a minimum length to avoid "mini" versions of the card, which prioritize fitting into small builds, such as an ITX case. You can choose to use [this filter]https://pcpartpicker.com/products/video-card/#c=446&sort=price&page=1) instead, if you want to include the smaller cards for any reason. Note that smaller cards will be louder or hotter - or both.

Case

All of our components are housed in the Fractal Design Meshify C Dark TG case. This case features a clean design and a tempered glass window. It includes 2x front panel USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, a PSU shroud, and a number of cable management holes and tie-offs to help your build look cleaner. It can also fit full-sized video cards.

PSU

For our power supply, we're using a parametric selection of well-reviewed semi or fully modular units, all of which are 80+ Gold certified or above and can provide plenty of power for this build.

You said you added a filter to "remove mini versions of the gpu," yet you added the mini version of the gpu...

Why are the Great/Excellent builds almost exactly the same?

Both for AMD and Intel the pairs are essentially the same. (2060 super + 9600k/3600)

This is my first PC build and I am building it with my dad I was wondering if everything is included for assembly and/or if I need anything else such as thermal paste and any screws, other special tools that are not provided? What are the common problems that occur when building or is it a fairly easy process?

I want to make sure I have EVERYTHING I need to build the PC after I receive the parts and not be caught off guard about assembling.

Thanks, You can contact me on discord @ YoriTano#7203or here.

How many USB ports, HDMI, DisplayPorts, etc. does this build have?

Hi, I am looking at building a PC similar to this. And noticed the compatibility note at the bottom "Note:The Gigabyte Z390 UD ATX LGA1151 Motherboard has an additional 4-pin ATX power connector but the Corsair TXM Gold 550 W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply does not. This connector is used to supply additional 12V current to the motherboard. While the system will likely still run without it, higher current demands such as extreme overclocking or large video card current draws may require it.". Is this a big deal, would it be worth it for me to find a different power supply?

I'm curious how much additional performance/future proofing would you get out of a 2070 compared to the 2060? If it's marginal, I'd prefer to save the money. If it's significant, then maybe I'll save a little longer to invest.

Sorry if this sounds like a really dumb question, im new to pc building, how would you add an operating system to this build? Let us say i were to get this exact build, would it come with windows 10 or is that something I need to add additionally?

I’d rather change RTX 2060 Zotac Super Mini To: RTX 2060 Zotac Gaming AMP Extreme. Because now its just costs 30$ and its more profitable.

okay i need to have a chat with whoever made this build, i have purchased it in full faith that this is reviewed and deemed working 100% otherwise it wouldn't be posted on such a highly used website. i am currently under the belief that the gpu doesn't fit this case. i have purchased and put together this build been using it for about two weeks now and just been dealing with issues left and right. currently when i insert the gpu into either slot you can CLEARLY SEE that the smaller part on the gpu that needs to be inserted into the slot doesn't completely insert. i can take pictures to show. this is unbelievable, its blowing my mind how incompatible these parts are and yet this is listed as a pre-built here you go buy this computer.
