If possible, what monitor do you already have ? you have to know ,that NOT all monitors are suitable for all Graphic Cards ,and vice versa ... this is an important question.

Was going to base the monitor off the graphics card. Is that alright to do?

Was getting the monitor as a gift so didn't want it in the budget.

Read carefully what i have to say =

You have to remember 3 important things = Resolution, Refresh Rate (equals to frequency of Monitor) , and the last, but NOT ignorable, the Visual Quality settings (varies from Very Low,to Ultra or MAXimum or Epic , you ALWAYS want the best option, the Ultra one, especially when Gaming,to have the best Gaming Experience, this is too important as GRAVITY.)

If you want to play at 1080p 60 Hz Monitor, you will need a RX570 GPU preferably at 8GB,in order to have the Visual Quality settings to Ultra,in most Game Titles.

If you want to play at 1080p 75 Hz Monitor, you will need a RX580 GPU preferably at 8GB,or an RX590 for better results,or a 5500XT,in order to have the Visual Quality settings to Ultra,in most Game Titles.

If you want to play at 1080p 120 Hz Monitor or at 1440p 60 Hz Monitor, you will need a RTX2060 GPU or a 5600XT or RTX2060 SUPER or a 5700,in order to have the Visual Quality settings to Ultra,in most Game Titles.

If you want to play at 1080p 144 Hz Monitor or at 1440p 75-76 Hz Monitor, you will need a RTX2070 GPU or a RTX 2070 SUPER or a 5700XT,in order to have the Visual Quality settings to Ultra,in most Game Titles.

If you want to play at 1080p 165-180 Hz Monitor or at 1440p 85-100 Hz Monitor, you will need a RTX2080 GPU,in order to have the Visual Quality settings to Ultra,in most Game Titles.

If you want to play at 1080p 240 Hz Monitor or at 1440p 144 Hz Monitor, you will need a RTX2080 Super GPU,in order to have the Visual Quality settings to Ultra,in most Game Titles.

If you want to play at 1440p 165 Hz Monitor or at 4K 60 Hz Monitor, you will need a RTX2080 Ti GPU,in order to have the Visual Quality settings to Ultra,in most Game Titles.

Those Values are approximately ...

The more in resolution a Monitor is , and the more in frequency, the most demanding and expensive must be a Graphics Card ...

Of course, you ALWAYS prefer the Monitor with Displayport input , to acquire the best possible results.

Also-if possible, you prefer to choose a Monitor with the smallest possible Response Time , 1ms is very very good ... if smaller even better , but the cost raises usually more ...

Of course , IPS or OLED ones , are even better , but also the cost raises further , if they are not , you will not have big loss in quality ...

Those were as a start only,as an entry ... DO YOU UNDERSTAND NOW ?
