Asus PCDIY / PCPartPicker Live Stream

philip

Aug. 3, 2015

Mark your calendars for the Asus PCDIY and PCPartPicker live stream this Wednesday, August 5th, 7:30pm PST. JJ from Asus will be joining us to go over information, insights, guides, and more surrounding Intel's next generation chipset and processors. Then we'll follow up with a live build using one of the new Asus Z170 motherboards.

JJ will be showing off motherboards, graphics cards, and more here at the new PCPartPicker office. We're putting together some exciting content - showcasing, discussing and demoing ASUS’ newest motherboards along with their latest features, functions and designs. If you have questions you'd like to submit for the live stream, make sure to submit via email at PCDIY@ASUS.COM. You can send them in via Twitter - just address to @ASUSTECHMKTJJ.

And to make the deal even sweeter, Asus is running a giveaway for a couple motherboards and some peripherals. You can find the details on how to enter the giveaway at Asus PCDIY.

I'm on Windows 10's Edge thing, no telling what made it do that

I've checked it on Windows 10 Edge and haven't seen any such issues. If you catch it doing it again, can you grab a screen shot so I can try to debug what you saw? Thanks!

Yes, I will most definitely screenshot it and tell you guys, now that you say that it probably won't happen again though.

Thank you for the info! I basically learned, for the past 3 weeks, how to build a computer and what to do before you even build a computer through JJ. Even as I was putting in the components, I was still watching videos of him building for reference. I owe that man a lot so I'm excited to see this :D.

Please don't take this the wrong way.... but I felt like the show could have been more then just JJ talking? I mean I'm not trying to be rude or anything but it seemed that Phillip just sat back and JJ ran the show (if that was the intention... then you succeeded!) Of course this isn't a critique on the quality (though.... Maybe when you try and show us how the Raid functionality works... it should actually work :P) over all it was a good show.

It was intentional to let JJ do the bulk of the talking. He knows the chipset and Asus product lines back and forth - orders of magnitude better than me. On the RAID functionality, that was a problem with our setup. He was trying to navigate the UEFI menu by viewing a tiny window across the room. Basically trying to read the equivalent of a 10" screen from across the room. Later on Jack muted my mic and I ran out, grabbed a monitor, put it in front of us, and then hooked it up so he could see the screen better. But by that point the RAID setup portion was over. It was our first time in that setup for a livestream, so we learned some lessons that we'll apply to future livestreams (and there will be more for sure of varying types).

Ahh, that makes sense.

Oh okay, but it does work right? I mean I was watching and he was talking about doing something but on the screen the viewers saw there wasn't anything that he was talking about (like selecting the storage).

It was our first time in that setup for a livestream, so we learned some lessons that we'll apply to future livestreams (and there will be more for sure of varying types).

Okay sweet! Keep up the good quality!

Right. So when he was navigating it, it was so small we couldn't read it from across the stage. He was basically trying to go by memory of what the dialogs and UI looked like - which worked for the previous sections that he was more familiar with. That was our error - had we had a monitor set up for him to be able to see it and read it, he would have been able to navigate through and talk through it properly.

Oh great! I was worried that the function wasn't working. Well as always love you guys and the site hopefully you make more collaboration's with other companies and do more livestreams!

Just finished watching the stream on YouTube today. Just wanted to say thank you so much JJ for demoing the Z170-A board and telling us all about the other series of boards. I personally have the Asus Z97-A and have been very happy with it.

Z170 is one awesome new lineup, I really really wish that pump header was on my Z97-A since I'm running a H105 Hydro cooler. But at least I know if I upgrade to cannon Lake in a few years that the new boards will still have that. :)

Once again thx PC Part Picker and especially JJ for doing this stream. Very informative. I've watched JJ over the years on newegg TV and always loved his stuff! Thx again. :D

BTW...Had to laugh about 50% packet losses on CSGO. :P That should be April Fools 2016!

Are we ever doing shirts again ? I am DYING to get one of these shirts... I wasn't at a good place to get one back when you guys did them, not like it would fit me now anyway. I'm hoping at least 1 out of three things happen. We bring shirts back for a while. We get an app. Or this one is crazy we get a magazine for PCPP !! That would be so awesome !

@philip pcpartpicker web site requires putting card readers as an option in a building pc and also I think also would see also the bays converters of 5.25 inches to 3.5 inches. I say for my part that I need these elements when assembling a computer for video editing issues

sorry for my poor English is not my first language.

Everything should be recorded while streaming. I believe we are planning to upload afterwards but I would have to double-check.
