Yeah that "high quality all steel construction" gimmick is just marketing crap. Not worth it at all. You went with the much better choice. :P +1

Before anyone freaks out, the temperature of combustion for cardboard is easily above anything any part of the PC would see without dying beforehand.

  • 3 points

Yeah, I was measuring the temps of the bottom of the motherboard and it didn't seem to be too hot. The fans are awesome because the positive pressure coming out the back is quite high.

lol

  • 4 points

Haha awesome, that's the ultimate budget case :P. Still, it doesn't look bad +1

  • 2 points

dont use the case! It looks wayyyyyy better in the box =P

what case are you getting?

  • 1 point

Silverstone Tek Micro-ATX on Amazon, it had decent reviews and I didn't need anything expensive.

  • 2 points

I love the box. This makes me want to fit an ATX mini into a cereal box. Luck Charms FTW.

  • 2 points

LOL good idea! But I'd be worried sick since it's a fire hazard.

i love this

  • 1 point

All we need now is a super impressive cardboard box case... Where it actually has drive mounts, side panels etc.

  • 2 points

It also needs to be led lit and water cooled. lol

  • 1 point

That is watercooled. Do you not see the green tubes?

  • 1 point

Or the radiator that is on the top?

  • 1 point

I don't see any leds. needs both leds and water cooled :)

  • 1 point

And your GPU?

  • 2 points

iGPU for now (Minecraft runs at 100FPS), then I have a 7750.

  • 1 point

Yeah, its an apu, built in graphics, man.

  • 1 point

Sweet box man!

  • 1 point

still better looking than the predator g6

  • 1 point

Did I hear someone say, "Overclock"?

  • 1 point

I hope you're joking

  • 1 point

XD that's awesome! its funny how you'd have to cut holes to add a new GPU! XD

btw, are those fans facing out? cause i think that helps with cooler temps. if they blow in that could make the air get compressed a little and heat up, just sayin.

but you really should line the edges with metal to keep static from building up. i think you could even use the static-proof bags the stuff came in, but idk

Enthusiast cases are overrated.

Best Build ever ;)

Keep adding fans until I have so much positive pressure the case turns round.

  • 1 point

Seriously all that ingenuity and no cable management? LOL JK Nice slap together impromptu case!

  • 1 point

Lol

  • 1 point

This is pretty great. Not only for while you're waiting for said case, but also if you're trying to save a buck.

  • 1 point

Definitely better case than mine.

-- Also wtf is EVGA marketing their memory as "superclocked" like their video cards now? It is only at 1600MHz...

  • 1 point

And it crashes when overvoltaged and overclocked... lol

It was cheap at microcenter so I got it.

  • 1 point

i laughed my *** off when i read the desc.

  • 1 point

This is pretty nice and I'm not gonna lie.

  • 1 point

  • 1 point

LOL. All I got!

  • 1 point

You should upgrade to the cardboard box that your trash case is going to come in...

  • 1 point

I thought the name was some kind of metaphor or something.. It's actual cardboard. This is awesome! good job! i did something similar when i was waiting for my case too.

  • 1 point

The airflow and form factor of this case would be perfect for crossfire R9 290's with stock coolers. +1

  • 1 point

Is that case any good? How is the airflow and is there much room for cable management? And does it come with any case fans? Looking to purchase one of them myself. Thanks

  • 1 point

Are cases out there for 10-20 pounds...

  • 1 point

+1 for that awesome ghetto case

  • 1 point

Fricking awesome :)

  • 1 point

now you need a google cardboard viewer for your vr needs :p

  • 1 point

Ha.

I don't always drink beer, but when I do i get hammered and build crazy hobo pc's like this.

Cardboard seems to be on the rise lately. Paint it so it looks like plastic, wood or metal or a pile of vow manure.

+1 on your build.

  • 1 point

this is the best ghetto pc

  • 1 point

Woah, love the case man! ;-) +1

  • 1 point

To be honest I didn't know you could build a computer inside a cardboard box. (I'm a teen lol) this build is AWESOME!

  • 2 points

If you get the right size box, its very possible and somewhat easy to accomplish. I would not recommend it for long term use because of the risk of fire (which is still low, but possible), and the lack of power button which is usually built into the case. Still a fun project :)

  • 1 point

Very creative idea

  • 1 point

this is a cardboard box that reminds me of doctor cockroach's supercomputer made out of a pizza box, two cans of hairspray, and a paperclip. You should Add a GPU if you can.

Not implying that this was hard, but it took a little bit of effort and creativity. Generally weird builds like this and overkill builds get the most upvotes.
