Why spend that much on an a10 when an i3 is cheaper, has a better upgrade path, and beats the a10 in every game.?

Hi, this build is a AMD and Bitfenix sponsored build so I had to use what they supplied, I agree an intel i3 or even an i5 would be better for the extra budget. But this build is meant for eSports where you don't need an i3 to get smooth gameplay, infact I was able to play games like LoL on just the 7870k and therefore a saving off the gpu.

Some people can't afford much and if there looking to play those type of non demanding games then they can't go wrong with the 7870k, go cheaper on the case and PSU and you got yourself a solid budget build for eSport titles.

Yeah you can go wrong with that CPU. It is MORE expensive than than an i3 that performs BETTER in games. If you are going to say that the A10 is a good choice, you should explain that it is only a good choice if you are going for no GPU to start and MUST be able to play games off the bat, otherwise it is not a good CPU for the price for budget gaming at all.

Also, I'm pretty sure its against forum rule to promote your youtube channel. I'd remove that link.

The athlon x4 860k however would be a better choice with a discrete card because you aren't paying for the on die graphics. The a10s are only good if you are actually using the graphics on it in which case they are well worth it. I have no idea why I keep seeing apus with discreet cards.

Exactly. I 100% agree here.

What case fans did you use for the front of the case SP or AF?

  • 1 point

I used the stock fans which come with the case... There SP fans and I set them to intake air and the top to exhaust.

The Parts in the Build? Not too shabby.

Again, I'm still searching around for my CPU of choice, and the A10-7870K Has been on my watch.

I would say upgrade that 370 to a 390X later and Oh Boy, this build becomes a KickA** Gaming machine!

But the Looks are absolutely awesome. All Black and Red, this thing of beauty is stunning!

Awesome work again, Ninja!

You could've gotten a much better R9 380 4GB for the exact same price, and the CPU is garbage, you could've gotten a 8-core FX-8320 instead.

Seriously? He's stated it multiple times and its even in the description.

Cheers for the back up! Don't understand why people feel the need to put down a build and say i could have gotten better parts... They should atleast read the description and see its sponsored :P

No problem. And yeah its quite annoying when they don't read the description. Most of the time people are usually pretty good with it just every now and then. Also its not against the rules to have your YouTube channel posted on here. Hell if you go to the forums there is a topic titled please sub to my YouTube channel.

the 860K or the A10-7850K/70K when OCed beats the FX 8 core in terms of IPC per core

heck even the stock clocks it beating out in IPC already

Sponsored build means I had no choice in parts! Look at what the build is for.. It's meant for low budget Esports gaming, the added GPU to the price allows this build to play more demanding games fine...

BF4 high settings 60fps was fine on this build. But for people looking to play less demanding games the 7870k beats out any IGPU Intel can do for the price..

Sorry. I did not realize.

true but i think you could swap the APU for an Athlon 860K or the rumored refresh 870K

those Athlons are pretty much A10 chips minus the iGPU

and those are serious clockers with water cooling

4.8GHz is what i have seen so far.

Really? An 870k refresh? I just bought my 860k.

It actually has better single core performance than the fx cpus

This is an AMD and Bitfenix sponsored build :D All the parts were supplied to me so I had to work with what I got :D This build is being stripped apart and I will be reusing the parts for other builds if needed..

I guess if it is free then that's good, but I would not say things like this"High performance low budget build ready for eSports competitive gaming and most modern titles at 1080p 60fps!" when you can build a better PC for the money. It is pretty misleading. It would be a better idea to state that this was a sponsored build and that you worked with what you got.

Just added that, but I was able to play most games at 60fps anyways, even BF4 ran perfectly fine on this build, the 7870k isnt as bad as you think it is.

Not the best but not bad :D

I'm not saying it is a bad CPU, just bad for the price when a cheaper CPU with a better upgrade path on a newer socket is available and performs BETTER.

Edit: Also, most eSports games STRONGLY prefer Intel over AMD as they are mostly single threaded. LoL for example performs 2x better on a intel than AMD.

That PSU is not terrible. It is not awesome, but not terrible. It is just a re-labeled FSP aurum. Could be worse.

Nahh, it is probably fine in a PC like this. It is not a terrible PSU, just not great. It would be like tier 2.5. I would not change it.

it cant

only the A10 can pair with the R7 240 or 250 DDR3

err if you look at AMD website

only the 240 and 250 works

[comment deleted by staff]

that is the older A10 and they only work in CrossFire with the HD6670 or HD7730/50

the 7850K can Crossfire with the HD7750 R7 240 and R7 250

you need to get your facts right

the 260X is way higher tier GPU and will not work in tandem with the onboard GPU

many have pointed out the mis-match DDR3 will slow down GDDR5 just to be on par.
