This is my first PC build, I called it impulse because I impulsively bought it instead of waiting for zen 2 because I was sick and tired of my gaming on my laptop. The building experience was fun other than having to manage cables and waiting forever for my games to download. I would like to point out that NONE of the PC build guide videos would have ever prepared me for how hard I to push cables and the ram in. I definitely had to reseat some stuff after I first assembled it. This system is a high-end gaming rig to me and I am loving it! Can't wait till I have the funds to build another PC!
Great value CPU. I probably won't ever use the chip too it's full potential since I only play games and browse the web. Also, the stock cooler cools the CPU very well and it is very silent even while I'm gaming.
Not much to say here, it is a very barebones B450 motherboard. I never planned on overclocking my CPU so I didn't care about the VRM setup. One gripe I do have is that there is only one system fan header so I had to buy a fan controller off of Amazon to plug in my three fans. Also, the one fan header is located near the rear I/O so I had to have a cable hanging across my motherboard to where I mounted my fan splitter.
Was able to easily get it to its rated speed using the XMP profile in the bios. Doesn't look as gaudy IRL as it does in the pictures.
Really speeds up my game and OS load times. Works as intended.
It works so that's good enough for me.
My card was a pretty good overclocker despite being a bottom of the barrel model. However, the card lacks a fan stop mode at idle so it is never silent. While it's not loud by any means, the GPU will notify you of its existence with a soft hum once you boot up a game.
The case is phenomenal for the price. It's nice and compact and the side panels are reversible. There are plenty of drive mounting locations in the small case along with support for 5 120mm fans. It also surprisingly has a pretty high-quality PSU filter which glides in and out. But keep in mind, it does not come with a dust filter for the top two fan mounts. So you will want to get a dust filter off of Amazon or just put your GPU box on top of it like I did. The fact that this case is only $40 is pretty insane to me considering the quality and structural integrity you get.
The cables are nice and black and feel pretty sturdy. Bonus points for the fact that it hasn't blown up! Plus, EVGA warranty if it does.
For the price these fans are great. They are pretty quiet and move a good amount of air.
