Description

Majority of the parts that are in this system came from a previous mini itx machine (Elite 130) that I had built 1.5 years ago. I only got the new SFX power supply with the Node 202 to build this machine. The hard drive used in this build is a 3.5 inch WD BLACK 2TB that I can't find on this site to add. Windows had been upgraded to Windows 10 few months ago.

Issues when building: When trying to fix the graphics card, I had to force the slits at the bottom of the IO plate backwards to fit in the slot of the case. Other than that, nothing much is wrong with the build. Comment if you need to know anymore regarding the build. I used velcro strips to attach my 3.5 inch hard drive to the 120 fan mount beside the GPU, nearer to the USB ports. See the pictures I attached for more details.

Temperatures: Idle in the 35++s to 42++s. Load temperatures are in the high 60s to low 70s at 100% CPU utilisation.

Update: I added the Noctua NF-F12 industrialPPC-2000 IP67 PWM 71.7 CFM 120mm Fan and now my GPU never goes beyond 64 deg celcius. I already reapplied the thermal compound on my CPU cooler because the first time there was simply too much. Should have just got the big shuriken cooler. :S Check out the last 3 images for a more detailed look.

Part Reviews

Case

This case has very limited space to work in but once your build is complete, you will feel like you have conquered the world. The cables had to be managed really well to optimise the temperatures of the components.

Pros: Impossible form factor.

Cons: The slits at the bottom of the gpu chamber didn't allow my gpu to fit in it. I have to pry the tiny openings out to get it to fit. Taking out the skeleton from the bottom portion has to be done from the back to the front to avoid damaging the ports on the front.

I even managed to fit in a 3.5 inch drive in the case. Check out my build for more details.

I love this case very much.

That 3.5" HDD is super well done. I've definitely gotta buy some of that velcro (from none other than Bunnings, here in Australia, as well!)

nice touch with the HDD but idk if using velcro straps on a HDD would eventually hurt the hard drive. Maybe someone can confirm?

The velcro strips i got were the heavy duty kinds, purchased them from bunnings here in Australia. I don't think it's going to be an issue. In fact, HWMonitor reports a lower HDD temperature in my current case when compared to the temperatures i got in my Elite 130. :-) Vibration wise, well, let's hope it doesn't fail. Haha..

machine revamps are always nice to get a bit more life out of your parts

Next revamp would include a Gigabyte 980 G1 Gaming card and maybe a change of cooler, since i just saw a similar build using the cooler i originally planned to use: Big Shuriken 2!

Hey man, frikkin awesome build. I'm in Australia too and am very keen to get my hands on Big Shuriken but duno where to get it here; I'm building a node 202 rig, too. You know where they have them in Australia? I've settled on the Cryorig C7 for now but I'd prefer the Shuriken. Cheers.

Im currently using the Noctua cooler, low profile. I couldn't find the shuriken that's why. :S Have you tried PLE or MSY? Or PC case gear? Soz for the delayed response, just haven't been looking at my messages here.

The velcro i got from bunnings is a legendary one. It's one of those industrial ones. Legit af. And i test it for vibrations and ****, no worries though.

Would you be able to have SSD and the HDD with your clever placement?

hmm , the ssd will fit. I don't see why you can't fit both into it? hjahaha..

Hey there, that's an awesome build! What's the operating temperatures on the hard drive? Do you have any more drives in the system or just the one? I am planning a 1 pcie SSD, 2 2.5" hdd, 1 3.5" hdd setup in the node 202 and I was wondering if it was possible? The part list is here: https://in.pcpartpicker.com/user/japmeet/saved/#view=fbgXLk Thanks!

****, soz, I have been really busy lately so i didn't get to see my messages over here. Hmm, yeah, it does fit a 3.5 inch hard drive but you have to be smart about it and use velcro like how i did it. But my graphics card is not thick af, so its fine like that.

The motherboard and the processor are probably going to be retired to a NAS in the future when Aragon V2.0 comes: i7 6700, Z170 board and 980 G1 Gaming.
