I finally finished my flight simulator build. I use it for mostly for real world pilot training in X-Plane 11 with tons of textures and add ons, as well as AAA 4K FPS gaming. I upgraded from an 8700K to a 9900KS which has really improved my performance in X-Plane 11. I know that program really only uses one core but the extra cores help support the add ons like Spad.Next, SkyMaxx Pro and Simshaker for Aviators and Buttkicker Sound Module software which run in the background to power my dual bass shakers.
I got very lucky in the silicon lottery with my 9900KS chip as I have been able to overclock to a stable 5.3 GHz on all cores at 1.340V with no AVX offset. Temps average in the mid-80s during Cinebench R15 CPU multi-core tests, hitting 89 on the hottest core (see the last pic). However during real life gaming, temps don’t go above the mid-60s. However X-Plane 11 sees higher temps into the mid-70s when rendering in higher density regions such as large metropolitan areas.
I am currently running my 64 GB of Corsair Vengeance RGB 3200 ram sticks at 3600 MHz.
Probably the most critical feature is that I can roll the flight sim equipment completely out of sight into the other room when my wife has company over :-)
