Description

Built this for gaming. The build went mostly without problems but I struggled to get the 8 pin CPU to plug in because my motherboard cable had it split into two and one was shorter. I gave up on it and went to do other parts of the build and then was confused why most of the fans were spinning and the lights came on but nothing was working. I am also very proud of the cable management since I made all the cables stay in the basement.

Part Reviews

CPU

Great for multitasking because it is a quad core and only 1-2 fps behind an i7. Also clocked at 4.1GHz after turbo boost it is not much slower than a 6600K while being much cooler

CPU Cooler

Much quieter and cooler than the stock. Also works great with a NZXT Aer fan

Motherboard

Beautiful motherboard, very similar to the Z270E from strix but without SLI, wifi and overclocking while costing significantly less

Memory

Bought for a Sky Lake build but with Kaby lake it is even better because it runs at the full 2400MHz. 16GB is a perfect size for a mid-range gaming build

Storage

Cheap, fast reliable and looks good

Video Card

Keeps cool well, and has good design but 3GB is a limitation in some games

Power Supply

Very quiet and fairly effieciet but I do wish I got a higher wattage PSU now

Operating System

Windows is windows. No other option really

Case Fan

The lights look so amazing. Works beautifully with my NH L12

Monitor

Amazing value monitor. Gives you an UW monitor for slightly more than a 1080p. Very little back light bleed. It is a bit small but I was used to a 15 inch laptop and this size felt right for me but if you are used to 24 or even 27 monitors then you will feel that this is small, because it is around the same height as a 20 monitor

Custom

Very bright and vibrant LEDs with good software control, but I have all 4 strips connected to 1 channel and some effects glitch

Hey i have a question as i see your running a HUE+ and i am having troubles with it. I am running version 3.30 or even newer than that. I have gotten the lights to work once and that is it. right after that it updated. I no longer have the selection for the lights I have repaired the install, re downloaded the drivers and turned the computer on an off. The only thing i haven't done is completely delete the software and re install it. Is there anything you would advise to do?

I do not know, mine worked out of the box. Consider posting on r/NZXT or contacting NZXT support

Hey there, mine did this as well after updating the Hue+. Uninstalling CAM and reinstalling fixed it for me.

Yeah there was some kind of firmware update for it. I updated to 3.3.0 and then the lights stopped working until I uninstalled and reinstalled CAM.

Its RGB, but not RGB enough to be called "Full RGB"

-You could've used a NZXT Kraken (Lights up) -The G.Skill TridentZ RGB memory were released and could have complimented your build really well

Still looks nice though!

I was planning using an NZXT Aer fan but it did not arrive on time. I would use it on top of CPU cooler/ That would be RGB enough compared to the Kraken. The DIMM slots are covered up by my cooler anyway. I guess I do still need a Strix GPU and I hope they make one for Vega

That cooler would look insane with an aer.
