UPDATE: Ran the IntelBurnTest under air conditioning and the highest CPU temps under load (Very High Settings) is 67 Degree Celsius at 1.275V. (OC to 4.6GHz) Managed to push OC from 4.5GHz to 4.6GHz with air-con, so I guess the ambient temperatures really do make a difference. Max GPU temps under load is now 65 Degree Celsius
This is my first build so please let me know where I can improve on in the comments.
This PC is built for gaming and while I know I'll probably not be fully utilising the parts, I wanted to go all out for my first build while staying within my budget. I use this computer to play mainly Dota 2 and now Witcher 3 (free with the GPU).
I stay in Singapore so the climate is hot and humid, therefore the high ambient temperatures. PC parts here are generally more expensive than in the states and I used the conversion rate of USD $1 to SGD $1.33. I got the parts from both online stores and local hardware stores.
I hope I've covered everything in this description. Please let me know where I can improve on and thanks in advance for your comments!
Really solid CPU. Managed to OC to 4.5GHz at 1.27V. Max Temp at 64 Degree Celsius under load with IntelBurn on very high settings with air conditioning.
I replaced the stock fan with 2 x Corsair SP120 High Peformance fans. Figured I need better CPU cooling in the hot climate and the red rings look great too.
Wanted to get the ASUS Z97A but unfortunately it was out of stock. The 3.1 version was only $10 more so I decided why not go for it. The AI Suite 3 makes it easy for OC and fan control through the mobo.
I got these on offer and it cost about $30 more than the 8GB version. 16GB is more than enough for future proofing. RAM is RAM.
The SSD really speeds up boot times (boots in 4 to 5 seconds) and the HDD is really just there for other file storage.
Really quiet and solid card. Sure it isn't as fast as MSI and Gigabyte but I favour the reliability of ASUS products. Can barely hear any noise even under load. OC to +150 clock and +440 memory with MSI AfterBurner. Heaven Unigine benchmarks average about 60fps with ultra settings. Max Temp 75 Degree Celsius.
Fractal Design Define R5 Titanium with Window This case provided lots of room for a first timer to fit all the parts in comfortably. The cable management was made easy with the slots to line the cables behind the mobo. Only complaint is that the case should come with an extra 140 fan. Nevertheless, I've replaced the stock fans with Corsair AF140 Quiet fans.
The modular psu helped to keep things tidy in the case and provided enough headroom for OC and future upgrades.
Had to use ICC profiles to retune the display settings. But all in all I'm very happy with this display.
