Description

Hello All,

I've haven't built a PC for a while and recently had an urge to build one. Most of the parts cost me nothing as it was leftovers from my previous build or upgrades from others.

Why did I decide OSX? I use my MacBook Pro on a daily basis for work, at home or out having a cup of coffee. I'm sure it's better to just buy an iMac or Mac Mini but where is the fun in that?

Overall, it took a few hours to assemble and install OSX. Minimal issues during install and was fixed shortly after.

Couple parts I will add/upgrade:

Samsung 960 Evo 500GB NVME, 2x8GB So-Dimm Ram, Apple compatible WiFi/BT card, 80mm PWM fan, Better HSF.

8/8/18 Update: Installed Samsung Evo 960, Installed Mojave Beta 6, replaced case fan,

Need to fix: Sleep

You could look into getting a GT 1030 GDDR5 for this system. I believe enabling Nvidia in Clover is easier than getting a Radeon GPU and modifying Kexts. I don't believe there are Radeon GPUs that would fit that half height form factor that would be more powerful than the GDDR5 GT 1030 (and it has to be the GDDR5 GT 1030)

Thanks for the heads up on the nVidia 1030, I did not know they made different variance of the same card. Since the iGPU does everything I need at the moment, I'll probably not upgrade it anytime soon as my main desktop has more than twice the power of this build.

I'm pretty sure this beats an iMac.
