Description

This all started when I discovered the /r/buildapc community and PCPP community. I was done with console gaming and I wanted to ascend.

I was inspired by the Scrapyard Wars type of challenge, where I found the best deals for good PC parts with a 500 dollar budget. Being 14 and not having a job, doing chores for 2 years was all I could do to save up.

All of the parts were bought on Craigslist or eBay, with the CPU, hard drive/SSD and network adapter from Micro Center. It was a long ride to get to this point, with many failed POST tests etc.

Now I'm able to play LoL and Ingurgency with my friend with all of the details maxed out and it looks GOOD .

This is a BEAST that can play any of my favorite games.

Best of all, it has my favorite color -- BLUE!

Part Reviews

CPU

Wow, I'm very impressed with a chip from 2014 not bottle necking a 750 Ti. OC'ed to 4.1 with 1.212v and temps are 50c when gaming. Could go higher, but considering I have a Tier 7 PSu, it's not worth the few extra mHz.

CPU Cooler

No need to get a beefy cooler when the 212's cheap little brother can do the job. On Prime95 I only get 70c on core0 and 65 on core1.

Motherboard

A great board considering I got it for 35 bucks. Lets me get a 4790k when I can afford it and do a mild OC on it, and the BIOS is easy. No Sli though.

Fit the color scheme nice!

I wouldn't recommend the Pentium Boost feature, it pumps way too much voltage into the CPU for mild clockrates.

Memory

Got it for free from a friend, runs at 1333mhz but will run faster when I get a 4690/4790k.

Storage

I originally just had the HDD but got the SSD and WOW is this thing fast. Saturates SATA3 and boots up pretty quick. Don't get a Samsung SSD when OCZ/ADATA will do!

Storage

Quick for a 7200rpm, stores all games except CS. Loud as hell though.

Video Card

For 40 bucks, you can't pass this up. The beloved 750Ti is all you need for 1080p and it plays everything at at least medium. Also a great Overclocker! Cool 'n' Quiet

Case

Beautiful case, smooth to work in, I overpaid for a used case but I wanted the s340 bad.

Power Supply

Works, quiet and stable. Tier 7 but it works when Ocing.

Operating System

DreamSpark!

Monitor

Had this for my consoles, and it overclocks great for a cheap monitor.

Keyboard

Comfortable and easy to type with. IMO best value keyboard.

Mouse

1000HZ, comfortable and BLUE!

Headphones

Had this from an Xbox. Kinda ***.

Great build for the budget! However, it seems to me that you have the rear case fan blowing back into your CPU cooler.

Good job man! I'm I the same boat too. I've been saving up for around a year and a half myself.
