Description

I built this PC as a replacement to my other build "ROG went ITX" which had a 9600K and a 1070Ti. While it was a great build I was seeking something more. I needed to go fast. This new PC is an upgrade in every aspect from my last one. I am very pleased with how this build turned out. Building this computer was very simple despite all of the components being super expensive. I am only a freshman in high school so I was very nervous. This computer is a beast, I currently mainly use it for gaming and schoolwork and it easily crushes all of those tasks.

Sorry for potato camera I have no money left after building such a PC.

I went for the i9-9900K because of the fact that it had 8 cores and 16 threads. This is pretty much the high-end must have in 2019/2020 especially considering you can get an 8 core Ryzen chip for under $200. The other, more important reason why i went for this chip is because it can easily OC to >5.0 GHz. This is going to be really useful in my flight sim of choice, X-Plane 11.

I picked up the NZXT Kraken X62 CPU cooler because I wanted something that could adequately cool this hotboi 14nm chip.

I went for the Z390-E because it had good features and was on sale for only $199.99. Not to mention it is the same brand and design as my GPU.

I already had a 16GB kit of this Trident Z RGB RAM and loved it so I decided to double up and get another one of the exact kits. Now I have 32GB of ram. Yay.

I had this SSD from my last build. Its a little small for the standards of today so maybe I will upgrade to a 1 or 2 TB drive.

I just reused this HDD as well. It is pretty simple. Don't really like the idea of having a mechanical drive in 2019 so I might get a 2TB SATA SSD to replace it.

I went for the ASUS Strix 2080Ti because it was on sale for black friday. I was about to get the EVGA Black 2080Ti for $1069.99 but decided to go for this for only a little more. Let's just say I am blown away by the performance. It blazes through everything at 1440p 155Hz while staying chilly. Have yet to try RTX.

I got the NZXT H510 Elite because I always loved the ease of use and simplicity of the H500 but wanted something a little more flashy. This was right up my alley. And I got it on sale for $129.99 so that is nice.

I got this PSU because it is from a reputable brand and can supply enough juice for the build. It was also on sale.

I got these two Aer fans to match the front fans in the case.

This S2719DGF has amazing looking colors for a TN panel. I also got it on sale and it is running great :))

I went for these 3 peripherals because I am a Logitech fanboi and they are all nice as expected.

All in all I am super ecstatic about this beast... I gotta hurry up and finish this so I can get back to some ROBLOX.

Very nice build if you are swimming in money! I have no recommendations other than about your choice of peripherals. But that’s all preference, I suppose. But you clearly know your computer parts well!

From one freshman to another, how does one obtain enough funds to complete such a project? Great build, the gray peripherals, and orange RGB seem to go well together.

I am very curious as well, although I am a sophomore, that is a ton of money considering.

Good Job staying determined 👍, it’s worth it when a build spans multi years after the build and doesn’t need upgraded just to enjoy new games

Looks like a nice computer, but the price... :O I guess it took a lot of yard mowing to save up for this. Are those NZXT 140mm fans loud? I have never seen fans with input/output ports before. That looks like a pretty nice feature. I have been a Noctua user for many many years (the brown on brown dont bother me), so I haven't explored beyond that brand for a long time.

The fans are not too loud but probably compared to the noctua fans that you have they are a lot louder.

  • 1 point

Yea the would have a noticeable difference but for the most part unless you are recording or easily bothered by any amount of noise you are fine getting any of the decent brands case fans 😆

I could never afford anything like this as a HS freshman. That being said why pair a 2080ti with a 1440p monitor? If you wanted 1440p at 144+hz a 2080 super would suffice.

I would go for the 2080S if it had more than 8GB of VRAM.

Nice build, however I have to disagree with the 9900k being "the high-end must have in 2019/2020" when third gen ryzen has been released for some time now. Other than that damn you have a lot of money and damn that is a good looking build.

Out of curiosity what is the entirety of the fan configuration for airflow? I personally have always loved a good kraken for cpu cooling.

2 140 intake in the front for the rad with NZXT Aer 2 RGB and another 140 on the top for exhaust as well as a 120 for exhaust.

I have a question about the nzxt aer rgb fans. I am about to start a similar build (bought all the parts already) and I got the same case as you as well as another 120mm and 140mm aer rgb fans. Looks like you did the same thing. My question is does it come with the daisy chain wire in the fans you bought seperatly or do I have to buy that too? Did it also come with the wire for you to connect 1 of the fans to the smart device on the back?

  • 1 point

Yeah so all the cables you need are included and the bottom front fan is already connected to the hub and daisy chained to the top front fan so all you need to do is daisy chain the top and back fan.

Great build. Did you run into any difficulties to achieve a static Red color across all your components? Because I read that getting rgb software to run properly is a headache (such as CAM and RGB fusion) causing other programs on your PC to crash or simply freeze the whole PC. I simply want to achieve the a white static color across all my components (z63, trident z royal, z390 rgb motherboard and rtx 2060) when i buy them all. Is this achievable? Do you have any advice?

thanks

I do not use any fancy effects I just set everything to solid red. No crashing, no high usage, no problems. :)
