Description

This is here mostly to compare to my new build, "Inflection".

had the case since 2003, just continuously updated it with parts, but stopped several years back. Don't remember where I got the case, but the glowing viper front and big side window was nice.

Cabling is terrible, I didn't know better!

Processor came as a combo for with mobo for cheap (~$100 in 2008) right when the Nehalem family came out. I missed a few generations, so its time for a new systems.

Hard drives are quite old, but still very functional. no complaints, other than speed and capacity.

Fans are breaking down as well, driving temps off. Having to run system with side door off, argh!

System used for everything. Gaming, financials, FPGA builds, video encoding, etc.

I know, but I'm upgrading to this: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Beastliness23/saved/qVnp99

Hoping to see an improvement haha

OblivionXBA 4 Builds 2 points 41 months ago

Definitely an improvement. From rock bottom to the high-end!

Beastliness23 3 Builds 1 point 41 months ago

Yeah lol I wouldn't go as far as to say "high-end" but it definitely in the better half of the mid-range.

OblivionXBA 4 Builds 1 point 41 months ago

You have a GTX 770 in there though! Maybe the CPU is mid-end, but that graphics card though. It's def an improvement though, that's for sure. Can't wait till you post the build!

Wow, time for an upgrade? lol. I'm sure this was great in it's time but ddr2 memory? Sheesh. Haha, thanks for sharing it man. +1

That is some awesome cable management, that case probably has alot of holes to hide it behind the mobo ;)

jacobs4525 1 Build 1 point 41 months ago

coolmax ewww. I'd replace that PSU. It is probably nearing the end of its life given that this build is ageing.

Some0ne 1 point 41 months ago

Still better than my 3 ghz pentium 4 with 512 mb of ddr ram and no graphics card

nuked24 4 Builds 1 point 21 months ago

Don't ask how I found this comment- but I have two 512MB sticks I found in a box if you might want them lol

Fox_ 2 Builds 1 point 41 months ago

arghh....that cable management , nice work BUT THAT CABLE MANAGEMENT is ... next time bring some1 to do a better cable management for you or at least dont buy any windowed case anymore :) anyways not trying to be rude , +1 from me ... even if the images are pretty horrible the choices are good , and is all about that..

Just try to do better cable managing before you kill your system. I got to my pretty damn good cable management by doing it, leaving it for a little while and doing it again until it's as good as you can get it.

plgdg 1 Build 1 point 41 months ago

Read the description first.

purplepenguin 1 point 41 months ago

I did. That's why I posted a helpful suggestion rather than AAAARGH UR CABBLES SUK

QuantumEssence 1 Build 1 point 41 months ago

I don't know why I laughed so hard at that. I think it is because I read the last part pretending you were a preteen pirate.

purplepenguin 1 point 41 months ago

I am not a preteen pirate, just pretending to be an illiterate troll XD

QuantumEssence 1 Build 3 points 41 months ago

Arrrr, but it is more fun if you're a pirate! :D
