Running Mavericks 10.9.4.

Used spare parts mainly. Graphics card is actually 1Gb and is needed for OS X since the CPU integrated graphics is not supported in OS X.

By the nature of these parts I assume this is a spare parts build, or at least, I'd hope so.

It was a spare parts build. I guess I shoud remove the prices.

Personally, I think the GPU was a waste of $37. I certainly hope you didn't pay that much for that hard drive, either.

EDIT: Thank you for updating the build. I understand why you have that graphics card and that this is a spare parts build.

Just wanted to clarify- this was a spare parts build. The SSD, Graphics card (needed for OSX) and Case were bought on Ebay so I guess I should remove the prices.

I used a zotac 210 1gb on a hackintosh and was pleasantly surprised at its performance. What is the psu sitting on? I like that case too.

yoga2 submitter 1 Build 1 point 49 months ago

PSU is mounted on the case.

Can this play movies at 1080p and or 2k?

yoga2 submitter 1 Build 1 point 49 months ago

Yes- I did try it with my TV at 1080p

Nice build, did you have any problems with the hackintosh because of the Intel HD graphics?

yoga2 submitter 1 Build 1 point 44 months ago

Sorry - have not use pcpartpicker in a long time. Hackintosh graphics are always a problem but I remember using getting it to work using clover on the usb.

tussiez 1 Build 1 point 18 months ago

If it is running Mavericks, how come the picture shows it running Yosemite?

Frostfyre 1 Build -4 points 49 months ago

If you really spend over $100 dollars on that HDD, Then you rethink the way you look at money, for the same price of this you could have gotten a 7770 with a Pentium g3220.

Frostbyter 2 points 49 months ago

An Athlon would not work with OSX. But I agree, the HDD was a waste of money. $60 could of had you a Caviar Blue 1tb at least.

Frostfyre 1 Build 1 point 49 months ago

Ah, i did not know that.

Frostbyter 1 point 49 months ago

Yeah AMD has not been supported on Macs since I believe about Snow Leopard(?) (don't quote me on that.) so the cheap Intel made sense, but yeah, gfx card and the hard drive not to mention the expensive case does make this seem like a spare parts build.

They didn't say it was for gaming. Maybe they just wanted a cheap graphics card to offload the graphics processing from the CPU/integrated GPU in the CPU. I don't know too much about Hackintoshes, but maybe they don't support integrated graphics.

tussiez 1 Build 1 point 18 months ago

then how come they made a mac mini

pegotico 2 Builds -2 points 49 months ago
