Description

I'm a bit late to post this build as I finished it back in November 2018. This was a version 1.0 of the build. Ever since Evolv X case was announced I planned to build a system in it and when I realized there will be a dual system kit I immediately thought of building a 9900k+8086k dual system.

So I pre-ordered i9 9900k but B&H took forever to ship it so I built this system as a temporary build until I get the i9 processor.

At first I installed powercolor rx vega 64 instead of MSI 2080 ti trio for my itx system so that this system had Intel x Nvidia and AMD Ryzen + Radeon in a single case which I thought was pretty cool but I swapped it out for Trio card because the color/RGB on trio matched the build much better.

I use main system for everyday use and gaming and my sub(itx) system is purely for my racing rig. I already had a dedicated pc for the racing rig but this will do the job now.

I already started to build version 2.0 of this system and it's about 95% done and I will post it once I'm done with leak test.

Hope you guys enjoy. Thanks.

3Prcntr 1 Build 8 points 2 months ago

I am super confused by the amount of GPU's in the pics. 5 different ones? How is this affordable? Definitely cool, but dayum man.

Jinair submitter 4 Builds 7 points 2 months ago

I have a soft spot for graphics cards so I have a good amount of gpu collections. haha

Killshotgn 2 Builds 5 points 2 months ago

I've never been so confused and so in love at the same time

Jinair submitter 4 Builds 3 points 2 months ago

that's what most people's reactions were when they first saw this. haha

SwiftSeb 6 Builds 4 points 2 months ago

this is nuts, the array of gpu's in there is insane, now watercool the gpu's for the most insane rig on this site!

Jinair submitter 4 Builds 8 points 2 months ago

I actually finished the custom loop on Sunday and it just needs some finishing touch and leak test. so stay tuned for that. :)

How do you control your RGB? What hardware/software rgb controler you use?

Nice build.

Jinair submitter 4 Builds 4 points 2 months ago

All of corsair hd fans, led strips, and case rgb lights are connected to commander pro and I control/sync them on icue. Motherboard/ram/2080ti rgb are controlled by asus aura and msi mystic light.

Gom3su 1 Build 2 points 2 months ago

So can you control rgb g.skill ram on asus aura?

Jinair submitter 4 Builds 5 points 2 months ago

Yup.

Edit* Case rgb lights are directly connected to the motherboard so it syncs with motherboard and ram on asus aura, not icue.

dhoey1212 1 point 2 months ago

corsair commander pro is the best add on ive ever bough its a fan controller and a controller for all RGB

Jinair submitter 4 Builds 2 points 2 months ago

I agree. Although iCue can be a bit buggy at times...

Killshotgn 2 Builds 2 points 2 months ago

Do you run 2 games at once on both systems? And if so how are thermals while running both?

Jinair submitter 4 Builds 3 points 2 months ago

I don't run 2 games simultaneously on both systems but I was curious about thermals with both system at full load so when I tested it out I saw both cpus' temps getting a few degrees hotter (delidded 8086k at 5.0ghz 1.31v stayed under 68c, stock 2700x at around 65c). On the other hand two 1080ti's gained about 7~9 degrees when both systems were at full load going from about 73c to 80~82c.

It will depend on what games/programs are running and how fan curve is setup though. One thing to note is that when both systems were at full load my watt monitor read around 1100w which was a bit of nerve-wracking so I've ditched 1080 ti sli setup and going with a single 1080 ti in my main sytem for ver. 2.0

Killshotgn 2 Builds 2 points 2 months ago

Nice ya I don't think the 1080ti sli + a 2080ti is necessary but I don't think it would be to much of a problem for that psu (would definitely hurt the electric bill though) but if you really wanted to run the 1080tis sli they do make 1600w psus which would leave you a nice 500w head room.

Jinair submitter 4 Builds 3 points 2 months ago

Sadly, this dual system build requires using phanteks revolt x psu (since you can't physically fit two psu's in this case) which only comes in 1000w or 1200w variants. I asked phanteks if there's a plan to release 1600w version and they said no. :(

Killshotgn 2 Builds 3 points 2 months ago

oh dam, that sucks time for a bigger case I guess.

ComponentOwl933 1 point 2 months ago

They do make a piece that goes in the case and allows you to power both systems from any psu. Just a thought. http://www.phanteks.com/PH-PWSPR.html

Jinair submitter 4 Builds 2 points 2 months ago

Yeah, I know some people who were going with normal psu+phanteks splitter for their dual system builds but in my case there was no way to fist that splitter inside psu shroud because it is already fully populated with cables.

rektjesus 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Honestly that's not to bad your reaching around 91% efficiency so in actuality I think that psu is perfect for daily use (as I'm sure its going to be around the 800-900 watt range during your daily workloads).

tresnugget 1 Build 2 points 2 months ago

What do you plan on doing with the second PC. I literally have all the parts to do exactly what you did. My 9900k and Maximus XI that replaced my X and 8086k got here a couple months ago. All I'd need was a Maximus Gene for the ITX. I was looking at building a dual machine but just can't fathom the application.

Jinair submitter 4 Builds 3 points 2 months ago

For now, my itx system is solely for my sim racing rig. But since I play it only once or twice a week usually it is turned off while I use the main system.

I see this dual system can be beneficial for people who want to stream using a dual pc setup but have limited space and for people who want to use it for gaming+content creating/editing and such.

BTW, maximus gene is a matx board (I wish it was itx board tho. haha)

CloudZGaming 2 points 2 months ago

Is it dual sli for one system or one gpu per system? sexy build kinda jealous

Jinair submitter 4 Builds 2 points 2 months ago

ATX system has two 1080 ti's and ITX system has one 2080 ti. So 3 gpu's total.

Broxx 6 Builds 2 points 2 months ago

This is saucy... very nicely done.

Jinair submitter 4 Builds 3 points 2 months ago

Thanks!

daUnitedpotato 1 Build 2 points 2 months ago

I just saw a YT video on this case and how you can have two systems in it. Kinda nice to see it in action. Well done. :)

Jinair submitter 4 Builds 3 points 2 months ago

thank you sir :)

JJAMSUPER 1 Build 2 points 2 months ago

Finally! I have been waiting for this EXACT type of build (A dual system Evolv X with good Aesthetics).

Jinair submitter 4 Builds 3 points 2 months ago

I'm glad to hear that!

undeadrebel1441 1 Build 2 points 2 months ago

Why are there 6 fans on the H150i?

+1 on the build btw I really like it. Been wanting to buy this case and this makes me want to do that even more.

Jinair submitter 4 Builds 4 points 2 months ago

I wanted to try out push/pull setup for 8086k and see how it compared with my old setup with just 240mm rad on 8700k. The difference in temps were very noticeable at both idle and under load.

undeadrebel1441 1 Build 2 points 2 months ago

Ok so the 6 fans on rad are all intake ?

Jinair submitter 4 Builds 3 points 2 months ago

yes

Blake_Houston 2 points 2 months ago

JeddieBoy 1 point 2 months ago

What made you not just build two systems in two different cases?

Jinair submitter 4 Builds 7 points 2 months ago

I had 6 gaming pc's (sold 2 since then) at the time of this build and my pc's and sim racing rig were taking up too much space. But honestly, I built this as a fun project.

veristic 2 Builds 1 point 2 months ago

Streaming / editing / gaming?

Jinair submitter 4 Builds 3 points 2 months ago

I planned on adding a capture card in main system so I can stream while playing games on itx system but has yet to try it.

That racing rig setup sounds so dreamy. Definitely interested to see pictures of how the rig looks!

themoosemessiah 6 Builds 1 point 2 months ago

What are the temps like on... well, anything in there when its running and working?

Jinair submitter 4 Builds 2 points 2 months ago

When just atx system is turned on I never see 8086k going over 66c and 1080ti's over 73c.

I don't run 2 games simultaneously on both systems but I was curious about thermals with both system under load so when I tested it out I saw both cpus' temps getting a few degrees hotter (delidded 8086k at 5.0ghz 1.31v stayed under 68c, stock 2700x at around 65c). On the other hand two 1080ti's gained about 7~9 degrees when both systems were under full load going from about 73c to 80~82c

OrbitalBuzzsaw 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

this man is living in the year 3019

Jinair submitter 4 Builds 2 points 2 months ago

mrdestructoid

ooferino 1 point 2 months ago

+1 crazy and I love it

How are your GPU temps?

Jinair submitter 4 Builds 2 points 2 months ago

Surprisingly 2080ti doesn't get affected too much when both systems are turned on and under load, it stays under 76c. On the other hand, two 1080ti's get pretty toasty around 82c or so if both systems are doing work.

When I play games with just atx system turned on, 1080ti's temps stay around 73c.

ooferino 1 point 2 months ago

Huh, that's cool! I wouldn't of figured.

cosmicstingray 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Hey, if you ever decide to do some streaming, you could use the second system as an encoder to not take away from game performance +1

Jinair submitter 4 Builds 2 points 2 months ago

Yup, that was one of the plans I had in mind. I can add a capture card in main system and use it as a streaming pc while playing games on itx system. It will happens sometime in the future, I'm just being so lazy ATM. haha Thanks!

Rhubarbins 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Very impressive! I bet your cable management was a headache

Jinair submitter 4 Builds 2 points 2 months ago

Yes it was. I'm very thankful this case has ssd mount covers which hide most of the cables in the back side panel.

Rhubarbins 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Well it's definitely paid off, looks fantastic!

Siddarth_Pammi 1 point 2 months ago

Gaming + Streaming lol

Jinair submitter 4 Builds 2 points 2 months ago

yup, it's a perfect setup for that.

Siddarth_Pammi 1 point 2 months ago

How much did it cost?

Jinair submitter 4 Builds 1 point 2 months ago

PC costed about 6k.

breaknuts 1 point 2 months ago

Does this just vanish into another dimension when you turn it on?

MaximilianZ 1 point 2 months ago

The way you use the dual system makes no sense at all. Just saying. Now u got 2 Gaming rigs. One 9/10 and one 10/10. Why not use the 9900k + 2080TI only ? Your text doesnt say if you will ever use the systems side by side and unless you do it its just useless

Jinair submitter 4 Builds 2 points 2 months ago

I currently own 5 gaming pc's and I'm sad to realized that they are all useless because I can't use them side bye side. :( Thanks for your comment, buddy.

MaximilianZ 1 point 2 months ago

well. i could take care of all the ones you dont need cause im pretty sure they are all better than mine

tech_geek100 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

How did you mount the second system on the top! Did you have to do some custom cutting? I really like the cleanness of the two systems. Did you somehow link the two systems to work together or do you and someone else use it?

Jinair submitter 4 Builds 2 points 2 months ago

Phanteks sells dual system kit for this case which includes an itx bracket so you can mount itx mb on top of the case and a 600mm riser cable for its gpu.

Two systems work independently and the itx system is connected to my sim racing rig which is its main role but can also be used for anything else.

tech_geek100 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

So - if you open loop that glorious thing. Would it be possible to have one circle for both systems? I was thinking about doing that to my system as well.

Jinair submitter 4 Builds 1 point 2 months ago

Yup, that's what I'm doing.

brightgamer 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago
