I would think that config would work just fine. You might consult a manual first though as I don't have any experience with that board.

Custom loop builds are always fun seeing especially if they look as sexy as yours. Gorgeous PC man +1

  • 3 points

I know very little about custom loops, but I'm trying to figure out how this works from a cooling perspective and would love to get a bit of an explainer so I can try to understand.

Starting at the reservoir, the coolant flows down into the radiator to get cooled, then heats up as it goes through the GPUs, then heats up more as it goes through the CPU, then gets cooled through a radiator, then goes into the motherboard and then out to the reservoir again.

My question is, wouldn't it make more sense to run the coolant through a radiator after the GPU loops, and before the CPU?

So it would be: Reservoir > Radiator > GPU > Radiator > CPU > Mobo > Reservoir

Just curious, not meant as an attack (I hate that the combative nature of Internet commenting forces me to clarify this).

  • 1 point

The factor you aren't taking into account there is the flow rate. The coolant flows so quickly around the loop, each ml of coolant doesn't actually pick up (and subsequently drop off) that much heat. Therefore the difference in temperature in various points around the loop is actually quite small (usually no more than about 4ºC).

  • 1 point

Wow, I'm surprised going through all that barely heats it. What kind of coolant is it, just water?

  • 1 point

if you were to use water it needs to be distilled , with an additive so that algae/mold doesn't become an issue. But you can order different color coolants online that already have anti-corrosive additives in it already.

Do you run into many compatibility issues with the crossfire? I've been wanting to get another 290x for crossfire but past crossfire experiences have jaded me.

  • 1 point

Most modern games have decent crossfire support. Maybe not the newest releases immediately upon release.

  • 1 point

Fair enough, I would be curious how your build runs in 4k and how much that 3rd card get used.

  • 1 point

crossfire actually works better than sli like for example fury x in two way or three way beats 980ti

  • 1 point

I understand that but I'm more concerned about compatibility rather then overall power. Doesn't matter how powerful something is if its not supported by the game itself. I use to run crossfire and when it worked it worked great but it seemed like a majority of time in my experience it wasn't supported.

  • 1 point

Outstanding build man! Would love to see some benchmarks on the graphical performance on those 290's at 4k. I do sort of wonder why you went with the 290x over the 390x however, seems like 8gb of vram would be exactly what you'd look for in a 4k build.

Curious, 4K gaming, but no mention of your monitor? Or did I miss it? What monitor you using and your experience in that "search". I am seriously looking at 4K monitors for my next pc upgrade.

Again, nicely done :)

  • 1 point

As a person whose favorite color is purple I whole heartedly approve of this.

  • 1 point

ah, I just love out-there color schemed builds, they always look beautiful, The Red/Black Blue/Black gets pretty boring. I'm saving up for an orange build right now. The purple go so surprisingly well with a PC, I love. I really hope someday somebody makes a TRULY rainbow build. That would be, fabulous. +1

I was very close to making orange or yellow for this one. But jayztwocents skunkworks was so good, I wanted something completely different.

  • 1 point

Looking at the thumbnail I thought the price would be twice the price of that. Beautiful PC. Great parts

  • 1 point

To be honest the price is actually lower because I just left the default in, but in reality I got the GPUs before the 390X release when the price was low.

  • 1 point

Bruh this is a amazing! Purple looks nice XD

my only question is why didn't you go 390x instead of the 290x?

  • 1 point

I got two of the cards a while ago. Then when the 390X was released, the difference in price just wasn't worth it for me. So I got the third on eBay for about £190.

  • 1 point

Oh if XD I was wondering cause them 290x's will reveal noticible changes to ur power bill, ENJOY THE PC THOUGH! May it last toy years to come XD

  • 1 point

Where do you find the custom colors for the Power supply?

  • 1 point

that right there is one BEAUTIFUL computer. i cannot say how amazing that computer is. that right there is my dream computer

  • 1 point

What about the compatibility issues though?

Corsair Professional Gold 1200W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply may not provide sufficient wattage. The estimated part list maximum power draw is 1246W.

Intel Core i7-5820K 3.3GHz 6-Core Processor does not include a stock CPU cooler. Adding a CPU Cooler to your part list is recommended.

The motherboard M.2 slot #0 shares bandwidth with SATA 6.0 Gb/s ports. When the M.2 slot is populated, two SATA 6Gb/s ports are disabled.
  • 2 points

None of those are real issues.

  1. The power draw never goes above 800 W. The estimates are usually massively over.

  2. Using a waterblock, no CPU cooler needed.

  3. There are many SATA ports, plenty to use all the drives and the M.2.

  • 1 point

Oh cool, Thanks for the reply! Very nice build. Do you think there is an equivalent to all these parts in blue or green? Also if I decided to go with a build very similar to the one you greatly created would it work very well with a tri-monitor type display playing gta5 and other heavy games?

  • 1 point

Nice overkill build, but I have a few questions. What is the fan configuration, why only a 5820k, and why an Msi x99s

  • 1 point

I give you serious credit, this is one of the sickest builds I've seen on pc part picker. However the question remains; with all of that power, what is this pc's bottle neck? Not to say that the computer is sluggish in any aspect or bottle necked majorly in any category, it is extremely well balanced as far as I can tell. I'm asking just for speculations sake and personal curiosity. Every pc has one part that is just a little bit behind the rest no matter how well balanced, but by balancing it good you make it so that the one part doesn't interfere by dragging any other part down in performance with it. So what is that one part?

I got to say (write) ... This thing is wickedly beautiful, of all the builds I saw so far, it's the most clean and well constructed, btw; how is the XFX behavior in heat without the liquidcooling (assuming that you test them before re assemble?) my references aren't that cute sadly, but the fact you choose them trickets me, congratulations again *!
