Description

Hello! Back in 2018 autumn when I was 13 I built this PC. Now, I spent a lot of time researching this, and when we finally ordered the parts with my parents I was hyper.

I finally got the parts, and was extremely happy to build it. I felt like a pro, since I built the PC very fast (if you consider 3 hours fast), and was ready to boot up. It worked, the fans lit up, and everything seemed great! But one thing - the monitor wouldn't turn on. Not even the input screen - nothing. I hopped on discord pcpartpicker voice channel to help me set it up. One person said to take out the CMOS battery for a few minutes and put it back.

I took a screwdriver, and tried to remove it. SNAP! Oops... I broke it. The guy in the discord was dying laughing, while I was screaming in shock... Come on, you would have done that! Luckily I had warranty, and I went to my local Micro Center and got a new one for free.

ANYWAYYYY...

I am an idiot. I didn't click the ON button on my monitor, and it could have been the most expensive mistake I've ever made. After that, everything was smooth, and I had a great time with everything else.

Now reviews:

Core i7-8700k What a nice CPU! Fast, snappy, overclockable to 4.7 GHz. Very nice!

Kraken X62 What a se... beautiful cooler! That 3D tunnel-like effect really puts it together with the amazing temps I get on a front mounted radiator.

ROG STRIX Z370-E Mobo I mean... It's just perfect for me! Looks great, BIOS is user-friendly, overclocking is easy.

Delta RGB RAM This seems like a very under-appreciated choice for white RGB Ram. It looks great, seamlessly integrates with ASUS Aura software.

ADATA 1TB SSD 15 second boot times - oh I feel so spoiled! This is an awesome SSD!

Seagate Barracuda 3 TB HDD It's average, I guess. It's not fast, but it's as good as any HDD.

EVGA GTX 1080 Ti iCX What a beast of a card! I get 100+ FPS (My monitor's refresh rate) on most games on ultra settings! I also added a nice white and mirror backplate to it.

NZXT H500* Great case, awesome cable management!

SuperNOVA G1+ 750 W 80+ Gold PSU It hasn't exploded yet, so I'm happy with it. But seriously, it seems like a quality PSU that is very quiet.

Corsair LL120 and LL140 RGB Fans Bright, beautiful, and it costs an arm and a leg, but it's all worth it!

So all in all, this PC cost me a kidney, and lung, a pancrea, a leg, an arm, my house, my friends, my dignity, and my life, but at least I can get 100+ FPS in any game at max settings.

So marvel at the amazing photos I took!

This PC Survived moving through to another house, so it is indeed very sturdy.

I am planning to add a Rainbow Six Thermite Figurine inside the case and Nanoleaf Aurora lights above the monitor.

So leave your questions and comments, and have a nice day!

Part Reviews

CPU

Nice, fast, snappy CPU for gaming, and video editing.

CPU Cooler

Keeps my i7-8700k under 65*C - and looks awesome while doing it!

Motherboard

Great looking motherboard, and easy to navigate BIOS.

Memory

Some great RAM! It looks sick, and integrates with ASUS Aura well. Recommended!

Storage

15 SECOND BOOT TIMES?! Awesome SSD, highly recommend!

Storage

It makes a funny clicking noise randomly, and it's an average HDD, but it's cheap, worth the price.

Video Card

This guy is a beast. Purchased him a while ago for $600, sad to see it go.

Case

Nice and clean, lots of places for cable management. Recommend :)

Power Supply

I guess it hasn't exploded yet, it must be good! But seriously speaking, this is very quiet, and high quality PSU.

Case Fan

Expensive, but so worth it! They look so nice!

Mouse: G502 proteus spectrum (definitely original, I know) Keyboard: Cooler Master MK750 with Cherry MX Blues (very nice kb) Monitor: Acer ED7 (model is ED347CKR) - 3440x1440 curved Ultrawide 100hz Speakers: Logi Z207 (They're very nice looking IMO, complimenting the white of the setup0 And to answer your new comment, Desk: IKEA Bekant white desk (You can change the height of it which I really like. You can also add drawers on one or both legs)

What’s that lock screen and monitor?

  • 1 point

Monitor is Acer ED7 (model is ED347CKR) and it is a 3440x1440 100hz freesync. The wallpaper I used is Wallpaper engine which makes it so there are particles and sun rays that are moving around the screen. The decals such as the day and time and weather is free Rainmeter skins. But the wallpaper image is here: https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwjU3vqowMTlAhWSg-AKHaz4D64QjB16BAgBEAM&url=https%3A%2F%2Fimgur.com%2Fgallery%2Fd5j3qU6&psig=AOvVaw3PVtl2vfmgY9-XiMZ-Yj6Z&ust=1572542725927131

Thanks! The colors on this thing just looks awesome!

It's actually a TN panel (which is the dullest colors out of all types of panels), but I turned up the saturation on NVidia control panel, and it came out so much better than I thought!

It's a nice one for sure, just not an ultrawide. That one is 2560x1440 and my ultrawide is 3440x1440. But the one you linked is 144hz, and mine is 100hz. I personally see a difference between those two refresh rates, but honestly it's tiny.

Also what do you think of those headphones and if you wanted could you make them wired?

  • 1 point

they have the charging cable for wired, but you have to use the USB stick and the cable at the same time. Also the wire always falls out lol

I love the total black and white theme! Now just change that god awful wall paper to match lol. Nice build and great setup man
Edit: I just saw that you're 14. From how clean the build and setup is I just assumed you were an adult. Verrrrry nicely done.

Hey man, thank you for the nice words. I really like the wallpaper though. The rest of the room is bland and this makes it nice and colorful.

Nice build! What did you do to save up to pay for this machine?

  • 1 point

A lot of stuff. I got good grades for a few years, saved up holiday money, did chores. My dad gave my quite good bonuses for holidays and good grades, so in 3 years I got it saved up.
