Description

10L small form factor PC built to handle 1440p/144hz while taking up minimal space on a desk. This was my first SFF build but I found the case very simple to build in. I can highly recommend Salvo Studios for both the case quality and customer support.

SFF limitations for this machine included a ~52mm CPU cooler height restriction and 330mm & 40mm GPU length and thickness, respectively. In addition, a SFX power supply was required. I swapped the LP53’s fan with a Noctua NF-A9x14 to meet the cooler clearance and it has worked very well to keep the 9700F cool. The reference version of the Nvidia RTX 2070 Super fits and was chosen due to its price compared to other compatible 2070S cards.

Under 15 minute Intel XTU CPU stress test, the max temperature of the CPU reaches 76C. Under gaming load (Destiny 2, COD MW), the CPU reaches about 62C and the RTX 2070S reaches 66C.

Custom transparent red acrylic panels were ordered with the case and have Destiny-themed decals engraved.

Part Reviews

Thermal Compound

This was highly recommended by a number of reviewers and sites. The 1g syringe came with a plastic spatula for spreading but I neglected to use it in favor of the rice method.

Currently applied on an i7 9700F using a low profile copper heatsink and Noctua NF-A9x14, 31C idle, 76C max short term stress load (15 min XTU stress), 62C gaming load.

Video Card

Dual fans idle at over 1000 RPM. Relatively quiet but can’t be made fully silent at idle. All other performance is as advertised, no audible coil whine on my unit either.

Hey man i was wondering how u r liking the build so far? Im planning on getting the same cpu and gpu since im not gonna be overclocking anything and 4.7 ghz boost is more than enough Also is 650w 80+ gold gonna be enough for the same specs? Thanks in advance builds looks amazing and very sleek :) !

Whoa super late reply from me, but everything has been great. I think a 450W PSU would actually cover this machine. My only complaint is that I wish the GPU fans had a silent mode.

I like this but no fans? wow

There are 3 60x60x15mm fans, two set as exhaust above the cpu blowing upwards and one set as intake under the graphics card. I’m running them at ~1100 rpm so that they aren’t louder than they need to be.
