by IloveGTX1080

I just built this over the March break. It's my first build ever and I was pleased to see that all went well while building it. I'm really proud of the machine I've built. I hope you like it, and give comments for me to improve on for my next build. Thanks!

Part Reviews

Very good processor, gets the job done well. It worked much better than I expected and was very fast. Can run Minecraft with 340 mods at a good 50 fps.

CPU Cooler

Extremely silent fans. I loved this cooler! The price was super cheap. I recommend this to people with a budget build. CPU ran at an easy 30 degrees or less even when I was using 80% of the CPU power.

Pretty good motherboard. I love its BIOS. I could easily change the RAM clock speed to 3200 MHz from the standard 2133 MHz. It took me a bit of time to learn but the interface was simple.

Extremely fast RAM that can demolish easy tasks. It has lots of memory and it's not too expensive. Would be nicer if it was a different colour though. Black isn't really my thing. Otherwise, great RAM!

Extremely fast SSD. Boots in less than 7 seconds, so fast that I can barely see the ASRock logo! I highly recommend this one. Very low price per gigabyte.

Video Card

Amazing video card that can run Minecraft at a reasonable 60 fps without Optifine. Great performance to price ratio and I recommend this to novice PC builders. Can run everything else quickly. Can also run Minecraft at 40 fps with a 512 by 512 resource pack and shaders. Can handle a lot of stress.

Cheap, stylish case that looks great. Comes with 3 USB ports which are more than enough for me. There is a transparent side which is great if I want to show off and give people a look inside my computer without actually having to remove the case cover. I highly recommend.

Looks wicked \m/. Nice hardware selection, hard to do better for the price.+1

VERY nice first build. The only thing I may say isn't perfect is the 6600. There's basically no reason to not buy a 6600k especially when your chipset supports overclocking, and if you don't overclock the 6500 with a b150 would be a better choice that does basically the exact same thing as your setup, for about $100 less.

Thanks! I'll keep this tip in mind for my next build.

i did a build in this same case and would like to see some pictures of the inside and maybe see cable management?

That is some super stuff. At the moment your price list here is not really complete, can you tell me how much you paid for the stuff? (Without the Windows and Network adapter).

IloveGTX1080 submitter 1 Build 1 point 19 months ago

This cost me about $1350 without Windows or the Network adapter.

Your wireless network adapter is expensive. I got one for $13 from TP-Link. Thing is, the wireless network adapter to me is something that doesn't need much money. Just get a little one that gets the job done like this one: TP-Link TG-3269 32bit Gigabit Network Card

It feels silly to buy such an expensive computer only for Minecraft, do you play AAA titles as well?

StormStar13 1 point 14 months ago

Modded minecraft is very CPU and GPU Intensive my dude

Edit; Actually, you're not wrong, I've tried a bunch of Shaders without any luck, they drop my FPS to 20-ish. Dunno why.

This is a rather nice build, definitely better than mine. Which reminds me, is there any memory for under $70 you would recommend for this motherboard? My motherboard doesn't seem to like it, as it keeps on crashing and giving me errors about memory management or malfunctioning hardware.

IloveGTX1080 submitter 1 Build 2 points 14 months ago

I'm not very sure as this was my first build but it should be pretty good with most RAM sticks because it isn't a very new architecture. I think you might not have pushed the RAM into the motherboard hard enough. Thanks for praising my first build and good luck with your RAM!

i issue is that the ram speed 3200 might be too fast for your build i would recommend something from 2000 mhs and up so your motherboard wont overload from the speed especially if the motherboard isn't very expensive as 3200 mhs ram usually runs on high end machines.

bro i have a old PC with a 1 GB vid card. a 6 GB ram kit and a quad core running at 2.2 GHz and mincecraft reaches 200fps max settings with optifine.

Its because the computer I built was pretty slow. I later built a much faster one for about the same price but with a Ryzen 5 1600 and a GTX 1070.
