Dual xeon for fun and profit. I use this machine for gaming off hours and programming/virtual machines during the work day. Dual 4k displays are great!
That 32gb of ram looks lonely
he was not done building it.
more like 64!
Wasn't when I commented nearly 2 years ago
In the photos there are only two sticks of ram, and when I commented I'm fairly sure there were only two listed too. Which makes 32gb.
your right there is "only" 32 gigs of ram
I'm not saying it's a small amount in any way, it's simply not what that person said
when I first built it, I had 32 in there, I've since added :)
one problem with pc partpicker is that it doesn't show when you update builds, it just replaces the one. i also originally had different processors in this box as well....
Isn't this a little much for mine sweeper????
Seriously I love this build :)
My god! I have never seen a dual CPU build on here. +1
How do I find these?!?! Show me!!!
Well you could probably filter the builds to the most expensive and they will probably be in there.
A lot of servers have dual cpus have a look on the internet for server motherboards
Love dual cpu builds. Would love to have my own day. Even if I never use half of its power
Single 1x16 GB sticks of RAM?!? faints
2 CPUs squirts
I know I'm late...but
You may get 20 fps on csgo on low graphics :P
Man... I understand you get upset when you lose at minesweeper... But don't you think it is just a little overkill spending all of this money to only play one game, and after all of the money you spent you get 1 fps on minesweeper, while on your $200 laptop you get 110 fps.
PS. You could have made 7-8 nice computers with all of the money you spent on one.
dont believe ive ever seen 4 watercooled parts in a pc before lol, 1+ for dual xeon build.
was going to go with a custom water cooling solution but honestly the AIOs seem to be working well enough. I think the AIO route is also less susceptible to catastrophic leaks etc, but that's only a guess.
gonna have to say aswell is that AIO coolers r also easier the put in.
and it also works well because if one loop fails you dont have to strip the whole system, and just replace that one loop.
Impressive configuration !
However, you created a massive bottleneck on your PC by using only one Memory slot per CPU ...
You got only 1/4 of the memory bandwidth that you could have.
Right now you have less memory bandwidth that most Laptops have since years.
And since you have many CPU cores fighting for memory access it is even worse due to entropy.
You should really consider to populate each CPU with 4 DIMM or 8 DIMM (with smaller 4x4Gb kits for example).
It makes even more sense if the PC is used for virtual machines that will directly benefits from increased memory bandwidth.
If you fill correctly the memory slots, then you will have a dream machine :)
I would like to have such one beast !
PS: With so much money in the case, I would have chosen two Noctua Nh-d15 or Nh-d15s that do not risk to leak (and performs really well). Or smaller Noctua (http://noctua.at/fr/tdp-guide) if you are concerned by the weights. EDIT: This is not relevant since graphic cards are already using watercooling.
why so much for six core CPU?
erm....they are... 2x 18 Cores bud! Not 6.
These are the top of the line Intel Xeon 18-Cores (36 threads) E5 v3. As of now you won't find any consumer use processor as powerful as these.
You won't find any consumer use processor as unnecessary for consumer use as these either.
It depends on what the "consumer use" is. When it comes down to one's wallet, there is nothing that it's not fair game. If I am not a render technician at Pixar, but I still want to render my 4K videos before dinner, then yes, these are not unnecessary at all.
If I game ONLY, on my machine...I agree with you. They are highly inefficient and unnecessary.
If you have orchestral templates as big as Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL, that make music for Hollywood, than No, these are not unnecessary. But if you make DubStep as a hobby and you suck at it too, yes, these are highly unnecessary.
It all depends what you use them for...and this lad seam to put them to good use.
Awesome! You gonna upgrade to quad channel memory any time soon?
As budget allows I'll be filling all 16 of those slots...
Budget? You were on a budget? xD
That's what I was wondering...
I don't think anyone has mentioned it, but putting parts on the outside of antistatic bags is a bad idea. That's because the conductive coating is on the outside and is actually more likely to ESD your part rather than just placing it on a table or something.
Awesome build, though! I can only be so envious.
It have been so hard to you to put those CPUs on the motherboard, so stressful! Oh, I don't want to think how would it fell presing the power button and... Oh! $15000 not working!
Can you play Minecraft maxed out with this build?
I doubt it. Minecraft maxed out??? You kidding?
You can't play that even with a 4x Intel Xeon 22-cores clocked at 3.6Ghz, 1.5TB or RAM and 7 GTX Titan Pascals...man, go check your flippin benchmarks man. ppptsss...minecraft maxed out....this guy
It looks like he is building 2 computers, because he bought 2 of everything
man i wished i threw up money too :/
but seriously nice build.
Nice build no need for upgrades apart from an SLI BRIDGE.
Awesome build keep up the good work.
The specs are awesome and if i could i would buy
the same stuff for my build.
WHEN SOME GUYS COMPUTER COST MORE THEN YOUR RENT :(
The CPUs alone
Love it. First build on the site with this CPU ... and you got two. +1
Why the ASUS mobo with the 16 RAM slots instead of the one with 8 tho? I'll let you guess what I'm hoping the answer is.
I'd probably be ok with 8*16G (128G) of RAM, but honestly the 16 slot mobo was more available and actually cheaper at the time. It had some bad reviews regarding the remote admin capabilities slowing down the boot times but I haven't witnessed it. It is a great board so far.
The 8 RAM slot version is currently more expensive, which is probably due to the extra PCIe 3.0 slot on it.
The Name says it all! killer build.
Man I'm so jealous of the CPUs & MoBo.... nice work!
the green in that case looks nice. cant wait until I get that case. nice build
This build is now the most expensive.
Seriosly? 2 E5-2699's? lol that's so overkill I do not even know!
and i'm here playing with my intel 4000 ghrapics gpu (laptop) ;-;
Can it play minecraft???
Yes, at 1 FPS
HOW MUCH MANY DO YOU MAKE
so much many
'How to English 101'
But can it run CS GO on at least medium settings at 40+ fps?
it runs minecraft at 1 FPS, so it surely can run CS:GO at 5000 FPS max settings
How does it feel having the most expensive build on the site?
ok two xeons a little bit too much dont you think why didn’t you invest in the graphics card more
correct me if I'm wrong but shouldn't xeons support 128gb of RAM?
do 4k benchmarks plz
(in canada at least)
its not, i think pc part picker only show ones under 9k here due to some prices being bugged out to 999999999999999999$ which prevents spam.
stupid question...you are running a 1000 watt, gold-rated PSU for DUAL CPU's and DUAL 980ti hybrid GPU's, which makes sense to me, so why are so many people recommending 1000 watt PLUS titanium-rated PSUs for single CPU, single GPU (or even dual SLI OR xfire ) builds? It makes no sense to me to spend that kind of $$$ on a PSU if it is totally unnecessary. Correct me if I am wrong, but anything below dual 980ti cards should not draw anywhere near 1000 watts of peak power, so what is the train of thought here?
I'm actually on the edge of what pcpartpicker is calculating as my maximum wattage. I really should be running a 1300-1500 watt power supply. That being said, I've run it with both GPUs and CPUs under full load for a full week without a hitch (not that that means I'll be safe forever).
i bet you it can barely run minecraft at 10 fps at 144p
jk probably runs minecraft around 300 fps at 4k
What FPS do you get on minesweeper?
Cheapest thing there is an overpriced WiFi module
you should upgrade to 64 gigs at some point if your motherboard supports it
I think it's out of date MORE FUTRE PROOFING
Mean machine? that isn't mean anymore this is suicidal xD
All of this with a moniter sound system on top lol
What is the difference between a double CPU PC and a single CPU PC I am interested in building this but would like to know more about it
in a double CPU pc it has 2 cpu's
really tho dual cpu's are only really used in servers for their amout of cores, hence why the cpus are normaly xeons
Pretty bad computer. Can't run minesweeper. I r8 9/11
Mother Of God
OMG, imagine playing minecraft with this beast XD
Damn! One cpu is worth more than my whole setup!
Make a update with a 1080 or pascal titan x
dont really understand the CPU's and why you need dual 18 cores, isnt there somthing with lower cores and higher Ghz? other than that this looks really cool!
This is my ideal build, still perfecting it tho! http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/yYd8jc
CPU's would be better i think.
Definitely - I actually have another set of processors in the machine now - running 2x6 corex3.4Ghz (can't remember the model off the top of my head). It is noticeably better in some games. These processors have been moved to my linux rig. I am a developer by trade and these procs are amazing for parallelizable tasks like compiling & analyzing code.
but can it run minesweeper?
Will this be able to play minecraft?? XD
Whats your FPS like? I have a 980ti in a similar build with the same motherbiard but i'm only getting 95 fps on cinebench. I noticed it was also bottle-necking a GTX 1060.
Can this run Roblox???
Then....what does it run?
This is too crazy for me. Not getting enough money for this any time soon XD
This casual dint even implement the fact you can use 16 sticks of ram for up to 1 TB of RAM storage. This guy is no better than a console gamer and he definitely is just a filthy casual that doesn't spend $10000 on RAM. You disrespect the meaning of a PC Elitist. This build is a joke, you don't even have 3 monitors. Honestly you are a disrespect to the RAM overlords.
Fabulous build. How do you set up dual Xeons?
+1 on your build! :)
Its amazing, but isn't it kind of pointless if youre bottlenecking yourself at 60hz? I mean what if you just got a X34 instead of two 4k monitors at 60hz?
Two things - with SLI 980tis I'm just able to hold 60 fps at maxd settings on many games at 4K. Second - for productivity I just like using two monitors. I've since added a third 4K and love it.
I totally get it. I was gonna considering 3 monitors, one a 1440p @165 hz and two 1080p monitors @60hz, and I would play most games at 5760x1080 and ones that don't support it at 1440p with crazy frames. I decided against that though, as the majority of my games are competitive, and therefore easy to run like Overwatch (which doesnt support 5760x1080 :( but with a 1080ti will hit like 250 frames ). My other games are all singleplayer RPGs, like Skyrim or FO4 but heavily, heavily modded graphically, which can only hit like 70-80 frames anyways, so I'm going with the original 1440p @165hz monitor for light games and an ultrawide @60hz for heavy ones. Check out my build, it's called Flog Gnaw, nothing compared to yours CPU wise, but I think the 1080ti would edge you out in the GPU department haha.
Am I reading this right? Are those really two $5,000 CPUs in there?
Where's the 128GB ram?
My question is why did he buy crappy water coolers and why did he buy cheap peripherals if his computer already costs over 10k
I have one upgrade for this. A TITAN X
$14,000 facebook machine
Wait, was I right?
You sir are a god. +1
dual cpu's?! Now you don't see that everyday!
only 4 pics? :(
Is it acceptable to have 4 aio coolers in one build?
Whys is he so means. He took me for coffee and a movie last week.
Did you win the lotto or something??
what is a point of using server cpu for work that it's not design for?
That looks like it could be a server. YOU HAVE TWO CPU'S!
bottleneck master 9001
How much money does this guy make? I mean, he spent $4859 twice on his CPUs
Does it play minecraft???
OMG dude you have one serious problem, don't need that kind of PC unless your running like 6 workstations on it.
That's overkill m8
It really depends on what he wants to do with it.
Maybe he's running a small hosting business and this is just 1 of several machines he's using.
This looks like a waste of money, how can anyone like something this overkill?
Embrace the overkill - I can compile the linux kernel in around 60 seconds :)
going by the rule that the cpu's need to cost twice as much as the processors i see.
Wha? A CPU is a processor, I'm so confused right now
sry, ment cpus need to cost twice as much as the graphics cards. my mistake
I absolutely hate that rule, why limit a 6700k to a 980 when there are 1080 SLI setups descending into reddit's master race thread? :)
Na man, this could only run Club on 8 fps 140p!
farmville, plays half an hour with 6 fps, crashes to desktop, drinks bleach because he lost his whatever the hell you do in farmville...
joking guys this can probably run witcher three at 600000 fps with no drop
But then you realize he is bottlenecking
