Description

5/9/2015: GTA V: 27-40 FPS 1600x900 max settings, Overclocked - runs smooth but no 60FPS or 4K

2/26/15 - added 2 Apevia 80mm Red LED case fans to the back, and replaced the front 200mm with a Thermaltake Luna 20 Red LED case fan. cooler temps overall now.

NZXT Red Led strip 1 meter added, build is now completely complete. for reals this time.

Minecraft: SEUS Shaders + Conquest resource pack + 16 Blocks render distance w/overclocked GPU (933/1250 > 1100/1350), which is the primary purpose I built it for. Looks gorgeous, no lag. Check out some videos of the server I'm running here

League of Legends: 68-160 FPS max settings, not overclocked

Monster Hunter Online Benchmark: 76th percentile (world ranked) not overclocked

SSD installed windows, boots to desktop in about 7 seconds from off.

The heatsink bracket intersected with the ram heatspreader. I elected to snap off part of the bracket to make it work. It was not easy but I was desperate, 0/10 do not recommend, But it works and the temps are GOOD.

I managed to tame the cords a bit but the case could really use some rings around the inside edges for zip ties.

Part Reviews

CPU

Runs a little hot, but that's to be expected I suppose. Fast enough as is to not want to overclock.

CPU Cooler

Massive mounting bracket, careful using this on a mini itx. fan can be cranked up pretty high, keeps cpu temps under 115°F at all times

Thermal Compound

Do I even need to say anything about this... simply the best paste possible

Motherboard

Nice Bios, but flimsy sata ports, a bit warped out of the box. Ram slots are too close to the CPU to fit a proper cooler, make sure your heatsink brackets will fit before hand. I had to snap off a side of the bracket to be able to fit 2 ram sticks.

Memory

Look amazing, do their job. No ragrets

Storage

PC didn't even detect anything in this Sata slot at first, reboot and suddenly it's there. not sure what that was about but 7-8 second boot windows 8 with this SSD. Fast, No issues since.

Storage

Had this for a few years, not much to say about it. no issues.

Video Card

Huge card, just barely fits in a Core V1, but thats not a bad thing. Overclocks well. Manually turning the fan up keeps this thing more than cool, even while way overclocked. Noticed 2 single frame artifacts so far, about a week apart, while not overclocked. None this week (3rd week of ownership).

Easily plays minecraft with shaders and 32 bit texture pack + 9 blocks render distance, overclock to 16 blocks render distance smoothly.

Case

Fantastic little case. Only annoyance is that the HDD/SSD brackets have you mount with wires facing upwards. I would REALLY rather have wires running along the bottom. Decent amount of extra space surprisingly to shove your cords into. They could have spaced mounts for 120mm fans on the right panel, not sure why they didn't. This thing needs as much are moving around as it can get

Power Supply

Had this thing for 5 years or so. still going strong. snapped off the 18 pin clip recently, still stays snugly in the mobo. wish the 8 pin was modular, since it doesn't fit anything I have.

Operating System

Michaelsoft wandows ate. Not much to say. Boots much faster than 7? Streamlined. Metro UI is useless and filled with useless things, I just turned it off.

Keyboard

Broke 2 of these, I keep coming back to it. fantastic keyboard but not too sturdy for someone using it from a couch (PC on my 48" tv).I still get mystified by the proximity light sensor, the keyboard lights up when your hand is near it (1-4" away)

Mouse

Nice mouse, on the fly DPI adjustment is great. id prefer a wheel though, the 2 buttons are a little too awkward to do anything quickly. Feels slow, noticeably slower when the batteries are low. Sometimes has trouble if its too far away from the DONGLE (6-8 feet)

Headphones

Amazing headset 10/10 would buy again. I'm told I can be heard clearly and it sounds good. Considering alternate 100% wireless headsets are 250$~, I would buy 3 more of these if I had to.

Sometimes crackles, battery lasts 8 hours or so, good range - 18 feet easily. I wear them around the house and can still talk without issues.

This build seriously deserves more attention, great job on the aesthetics and overall component selection! Also, +1 for using the 760K, that CPU along with the 860K are super underrated chips.

Thanks man - a month later its still astounding me. I've been modding skyrim a ridiculous amount (88 mods now) and its still running smooth

Have you tried playing newer games such as battlefield or even GTA V? I am thinking of building something similar... Looks like a good build for sure!

Teoteska submitter 1 Build 1 point 30 months ago

i play gta 5 on it, max settings. 27-40 FPS. nothing really noticeable that affects gameplay, though 60FPS isnt gonna happen

Oh cool, thanks
