Description

Built for editing primarily in Premiere Pro/After Effects/DaVinci Resolve. First time switching from Mac and I couldn't be happier about the performance.

The desk is made from an Ikea kitchen counter top over two drawers. I also have the Philips Hue strip on the back of the desk connected to the Philips Bridge 2.0.

I've been looking for something like that for a while now but didn't really like the reviews that one was getting. How is it (tracking, the light, the feel and things you can make it do)?

Excellent build as well!

No way is this a "budget" setup.

  • 3 points

"budget" doesn't necessarily mean expensive. It means you had a set amount to spend and you stuck with it.

  • 2 points

Yeah, but generally when the word "budget" is used with computer parts, or sales in general, it tends to mean lower end, wallet friendly items.

Nice build. Interested most that you're running Ryzen 7 / 1080Ti combo for editing. I'm considering same for my build - how's the performance when you're working?

******* badass power

  • 1 point

Looks great! I would've went with the Ryzen 7 1700, because it's cheaper and has about the same performance, but whatever fits you. Actually, kind of weird, (I did consider the NZXT x62) but we have very similar PCs. I'm gonna build mine sometime soon. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/nKnHD8

  • 1 point

Also, how did you get your AM4 bracket thing from NZXT for the kraken x62, because it's not compatible with the ryzen series. Did you order yours from ebay or something, or did they actually get to you and send you the bracket? I've heard lots of complaints about not getting their bracket or a response from NZXT.

  • 2 points

I believe the ROG CROSSHAIR VI Hero has backwards compatibility for AM3/+. I looked on the ASUS website of that motherboard, so I assume he did not order a bracket from NZXT.

  • 1 point

Thank you! I ordered a AM3 backplate from Amazon because I didn't know if the X62 came with an AM3 backplate (it didn't).

Quick workflow question for OP. I edit from a fully loaded Mac Pro (trashcan) and looking to switch to PC after waiting too long for an upgrade from Apple. The only thing I am having trouble with converting to PC is the lack of information about SSD speeds. With these newer SSD's inside the Mac Book Pro I am getting numbers up too 1300 mb/s. I know SSD speed isn't that important to gamers but for 4K workflows and RED footage I find the faster the SSD is the faster you can get real time full res play back with color moves and overlaid footage and all. Just wondering if you see any issues with this build and SATA connections vs PCIe SSD connections. I also plan on attaching a cubic expander with a few GPUs and a red rocket inside for DaVinci - that paired with an ultra studio 4k (if that can even hook up to a PC) - Also wondering if the USB-C gives decent through put for a promise pegasus r4.

  • 2 points

The USB-C is fast, I have a T5 connected to it currently and it's been a great source location for R3D files at 7:1 compression. I highly suggest switching over, the PC has been incredible for RAW workflow. I don't even think you need your RED rocket tbh.

Dude, great looking build, but only a 60hz monitor!? In my opinion, a 2k at 144hz is a better option

Do the fans work without the hue+ like without the commander or you can just plug them in "any" motherboard?

  • 1 point

you need the hue+

I know it's been a while since you posted this, but I wanted to know your review of the Asus Crosshair VI HERO motherboard. I'm considering getting it and I feel like maybe there might be worth the price.

Bro where did u find that 1080 ti? I looked on Amazon and it cost around Rs.92,000 alone. How did that fit in your budget?

Why the 1080 ti founders addition, other cards are much cheaper and come already overclocked? (still love the build)

im going to be honest, brutally honest with you. Your setup is average, and ive seen 100000 like it. So theres nothing super special here. HOWEVER. It comes out looking really nice and clean, and your desk setup, and the desk itself, and the lighting and everything just looks so clean. It looks like pleasant and makes you want to sit there. ALso your camera must be really nice, cause even your pictures are super clean. Lol. That's what your build should be called. Mr. Clean. Nice job though.

Dude, have you seen the specs? Name one thing you need to do but couldn't do on this computer. IDK if your trolling, but it looks damn fine aswell

  • 1 point

I did, and I agree it looks damn fine. I said it looks so nice and clean. Im not trolling. I dont want you or him to think I was trying to bash his build, although it kind of sounds like it when i re-read my message. I was just caught off guard at how many +1's it got right off the bat, for a super clean but average build. And what could he do? Alot more. Introduce custom everything, custom paint, custom modifications to case, custom water cooling, etc.... Maybe I can inspire him to take it farther, if he so wishes to do that in the future.
