Description

Used primarily for Gaming and with limited budget, I'm slowly upgrading my components. Last purchase was the graphics card, and could use some advice on what to aim for next couple of items. Thanks all

as someone who has the 6400, I would deff say that needs to be your next upgrade. Ram and Cooler is fine, its just the cpu that needs to go.

The best CPU he could get with that MB would be the i7 7700K. If he wants a more recent CPU (AMD or Intel), he's gonna have to also change MB. The R5 2600 or R5 3600 would be nice but it's your choice, OP.

Yeah seems to be the consensus. New MB and CPU, try and future proof myself a little bit so it's not dead money.

What parts did you have already? Also, sell the ram or give it to someone you might know, to get ddr4 3200 ram which your motherboard can handle. Save up for a liquid cooler, so you can then get a better cpu. Motherboard can be last.

The next upgrade would 100% be a new cpu. I'd say get a ryzen 5 2600 because you are on a tight budget, but if you can go for the 3600. In the modern day quad cores (especially non-hyperthreaded ones) are heavily bottlenecking. A cheap b450 motherboard will do, and the upgrade will total under 250.

Cheers. Certainly seems to be the right choice. AMD Ryzen looking the way it is too

I would definitely upgrade CPU. I have a ryzen 5 2600x and a gtx 1660 Ti which is great. I like the build you got going. If you need any help text me!

You don't need an upgrade. This system will run fine for the next few years

Thanks a lot. It's been doing me well, so the last upgrades were actually keyboard and mouse. End of year, start of next likely to be before can do anything much anyway :)
