Description

I haven't built a Desktop PC since 2002! Things have changed a bit since.

I ditched my gaming laptop, an Asus RoG G73jh, and decided to go for a living room media center / gaming center. I planned to connect it to my 42" 1080p Panasonic plasma and to my Yamaha RX-V673 AV receiver to play games and watch movies. It wanted it to be small, silent"ish", powerfull and a bit stylish.

Budget was 1000€

This is what I came up with.

I really like that you went with some a bit older parts that have a become really economical.

but why did you pay 120€ for the 850 Evo? In germany you can get it for around 75€.

Still a very nice build +1

Actually I have to correct the prices, since I did not have the correct information when I uploaded the build. I payed 109€ shipped from Germany to Portugal. I built this in August 2015!

Thanks for the comment :)

If I might ask, why a 4670K vs a 4690K?

Since I had a limited budget to start with, I first bought the G3258. Overclovcked it to 4.5 no problem with 1.3V, if I remember correctly. Then I found that 2 fast cores were not enough for some games (The Witcher 3 for example).

1 month after I completed the build I got a deal for this 4670K.

I have read good reviews on the 240 version of that CPU cooler but not the 120. How does it do? Have you done any stress testing?

Kendrick reference? Kind of like the old parts, a good break from all the Skylake builds. +1

Questions:
Why do you need 16 GB of RAM?
Why not get an air cooler as most single rad AIO performs about the same but 2x the price?
