So this is my first desktop since 2011, replacing an Inspiron 5755 that was struggling through life as my daily driver. I spent about a week researching what the different parts actually did and then shopping around, checking in with Reddit every so often; the first try at putting everything together failed miserably. Spent about a week troubleshooting why neither Windows nor Mint would install before sending back a few parts that were defective, and the second attempt went perfectly! It booted on the first try, and I ordered the celebratory lights & LED fan from the new machine itself :)
Besides general browsing, I plan on using this for small coding projects and light gaming-- the name comes from the fact that getting back into MapleStory was one of my primary goals for the build. I'll likely branch off into other MMOs and games now that I actually have a computer that I can try things out on, and I may upgrade to separate CPU & GPU in the future. For now, it runs great, and I can kill mushrooms on the highest settings to my heart's content.
I like how easy the BIOS is to navigate, and flashing from a USB drive was super simple. Everything is well labeled, and there are more than enough accessory slots for me. Also appreciate the amount of USB 3.0 inputs, since my case came with several.
Looks fine, easy to install, great price.
Slightly slower to boot than the Crucial P1 I tried, but still quick enough.
The clear panel scratches easily, but the amount of USB ports is fantastic for the price.
Cheap and works fine; I want access to all of my CDs and DVDs.
Came with no bloatware! (OEM license)
Super easy to install with the magnetic strips.
These don't feel great and easily lose connection if there's something between them and the receiver, but they work well enough for $20. I honestly didn't realize that I didn't own a keyboard or mouse anymore until I needed them, so they work great as a placeholder!
