Description

Welcome to my riced out, sticker horse-powered, plasti-dipped, zip tied & double sided taped up build!

What a joy this was to build! I was inspired by the Stalker V2 on here to chop up an old *** HP P6000 case I had lying around and make it my own. I have never had more fun with a computer build, haha. There's is something about a custom case and budget parts that I know all of you can relate to and enjoy. I wanted a finished product that was pretty cool, neat to look at and cheap!

I think this is going to be a project that i'll always be changing and modding. Every time I look at it, I get new ideas. Tools used in this build were a dremel, file, 2 cans of plasti-dip, epoxy, several random screws, washers and anything I could find to hold this thing together.

This is my daily driver/gaming rig. I love the g3258 so much and it's going to be hard to let go of it... Currently clocked at 4.3ghz w/ 1.3v. Since i've started i've switched from a 750 ti to an R9 380x, added a hyper 212 EVO, and switched from a 220watt to a 380watt power supply.

Overall i'm pretty happy with it right now. I had to remove my media hub because it was blocking the PSU fan causing it get a little loud. I'm open to any suggestions anyone has or ideas so please let me know!

Future mods/upgrades: Reinstall media hub somehow, LED lighting, wtb skylake................., My ocd needs a card to fill the entire top space of about 13 inches, Modular power supply.

Edit Reinstalled the 750 ti FTW due to issues with the R9 380x, Installed 2 Corsair SP fans, Removed fan for northbridge cooling.

<~Guilty, got a dremel for my birthday this year to replace the $10 harbor freight piece of crap I've been using. 2 days later half the items in the junk drawer were cut into tiny pieces. Yay! Power tools!

yaaaaaas! the power of destruction shifts into the creativity of a madman in your very hands! My favorite tool by far :) I need more cutter's though lol.

Here is what I do since I have a harbor freight tool shop in the strip mall across the street from my apt. Buy 10 dollar dremel open package and gank all the cutting wheels and grinding disks, return dremel for full refund. Been working that since January and now I have more than I think i'll need for awhile...Shady, but oh well, 10 dollars for unlimited cutting wheels...

I kinda love it in a rat-rod sorta way. You really own it, which is good. You also just generally have a lot of crap on your desk, which I guess if you like it, is fine with me. +1 for fun.

Very good job on the build really imaginative. My only slight concern would be the cpu it most likely gets the job done but an bottom of the range i5 would transform your gaming experience you all ready have the GPU. Still great job +1

What PSU is that? 380w, even a good one, is REALLY cutting it close for that PC. And I can see a PFC switch, so we know its not a good one.

it's this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817233013

Its worked fine for me over the past 2 years, it can handle prime95 and valley at the same time. I will upgrade in the near future most likely when i upgrade the processor.

Weird. Your unit has a sleeved 6-pin cable with TWO 6 pin GPU connectors on it while the one you linked has only a single 6-pin and no sleeving on that cable. They are not the same unit.

  • 1 point

i have a 6 pin to 2 6pin connector attached.

  • 1 point

Oh ok. I'd still replace the PSU. Also, it is never safe to use a 6pin to 2x6pin splitter and actually use both of the 6pins.

I will in the near future, it's holding up in the mean time thankfully.
