Description

This was the first PC I ever built. The first research into parts and how to construct everything I had ever experienced, was also for this. In general, I went in cold. However, it taught me a lot, and I loved the experience I had putting it together, and the fun of having a PC entirely to yourself, so it's fine if you corrupt something. I included some 3D Mark results that I got with this build at the end of the picture list. There's a 'Fire Strike' one (Score of: 15344 Link) and a Stress Test (Score of 99.4%). If you look to the 'Build Date', you'll see this was actually constructed at the beginning of 2016, and so by now, I'm looking at better parts for the future (no real need to do anything yet). Any suggestions about anything, or general comments are most welcome.

Part Reviews

CPU

The CPU works brilliantly. I had heard that it can get quite hot, but I always have it overclocked to 3.6GHz, and it never rises above 50º.

CPU Cooler

The CPU Cooler is great at it's job. It's quiet, despite having two fans, and does...what it does. It's a cooler, and it keeps things cool. However, I would advise against having RAM sticks with unusually high heat sinks. Mine fit with negligible space to spare.

Motherboard

The Motherboard has everything I'd want in a motherboard really. The spacing between the PCIe ports is good, except for the problem that seems to be on almost all motherboards that I have come across, and the PCIe x1 slots are right beside the main PCIe x16 which forces my Graphics card into the second lane. Because this motherboard has all of it's PCIe lanes equally fast, this isn't a problem here though.

Memory

The RAM seems reliable. I've never had any problems with it. There's enough so that I have never had any 'Out of Memory' warnings or the like. However, while advertised to run at 3000MHz, without Intel's 'XMP Overclocking' profile running on the motherboard, they run at 2133MHz. 'XMP' also overclocks the CPU in a way that I don't like, so I run them at the lower speed until I can figure out RAM overclocking.

Storage

The SSD runs quickly, and without issues, with whatever I have on it such as intensive games and softwares (not as fast as I'd like sometimes, but that's just my own impatience).

Storage

The HDD stores most of my games/recordings, and has been split into two equal partitions to subconsciously make me be more space efficient. It loads things quickly (for a HDD), and I've never had any issues with it.

Video Card

The Graphics Card is a beast. 6GB of VRAM, and usually overclocked to run slightly higher than stock at 1400-1420 MHz. At this speed, while running a game at Ultra settings such as GTA V, the temperature can rise as high as 55º, but again the cooling is quiet and effective.

Case

The Case is really nice. It is heavy, but it's also constructed from SECC Steel, and so built like a tank. The window is nice, as is the onboard RGB-LED controller. There is also a fan controller, but I prefer to have dedicated software to change fan speed on the fly as it needs it.

Optical Drive

The CD/DVD Drive is loud when actively working, yes. However, it is damn fast at burning/ripping data to and from discs.

Nice build! Even though the 980 Ti will not beat the 1080 Ti, it is still good with the 5820K and the X99 motherboard.

980Ti stock is, variably, the same performance as a 1070 in most things. Sometimes one is better than the other, but it depends on the application. But generally, the whole thing works quite well, yeah! Also, keep in mind the build date, down the bottom left.
