Now this ones a journey. So after spending the greater amount of 6 months with project rusty, I finally decided its time. I needed to truly embark on the path to true master racehood. Ùsing the parts purchased back in project rusty, I embarked on the 1.5 month journey of my first watercooled build. It was a fun one.
But every great story starts at the begining. See project rusty for more detail, but for parts selection. CPU: Must have for fun OC MOBO: Fit the aesthetic Ram: a completely needed amount. Not overkill. At all. GPU: keep reading, you'll see. Power supply: good Hdd: why did i not have an ssd before?
Case: this thing is a beauty. Saw it at a local store and fell in love. I waited for months praying that a white version would come put. But it didnt and the modbug grew everyday, until eventually i took the hit and bought it. There were a great many mods done to this case, if that wasnt obvious enough. One of the most unexpected things for me was actually how modular this case ended up being.
And thus the process began. By this time project rusty is dead because I cant afford new parts for every build (sponsorship please). The pics tell most of the story. What went well the first time?: taking project rusty apart. Thats it. What went well: -i love how the loop looks -case is beautiful white -Dem performance. -runs absolutely quietly, even with performance versions of the fans. -a lot more. I mean I'd say few things went wrong tbh. What went wrong: -everything was going somewhat smoothly. The 980ti was on the loop. I had boot for a total of 25 days. Then midranked game in league my screen goes black. Uh oh. So after cycling restarts and having no luck I knew the card was gone. Now the fun part, i found 2 of these cards for a grand total of 750 cad, one pricing error, the other with a broken cooler the person had presumed was completely dead. Water blocks were used and things were great. These were overclocked to 1832 MHz. -after the initial loop was assembled i quickly found a issue. The heat was chipping at the paint i used in the inside. I tried to touch up as best i could, but for the most part i dealt with how it looked. -no fan on third radiator spot on top. This was a glaring miscalculation on my part. I had modded the top cavity to except a 360mm radiator. According to my calculations it would have worked. But i forgot to account for the radiator fittings, and thus while the rads fit, the third fan for the top rad absolutely wouldn't. Thus the extra i spent on the 360, kinda went to waste unless i flip the other rad around and rebend the tubes going to them. -phanteks led strips are nice, but do yourself a favor and get yourself the shorter version on this case. Seeing the led strips is not very appealing. Better yet a hue+. -glass is expensive. I was going to replace the black trimmed glass with white. I walked out after the quote. -other stuff
all in all im really running out of creative ideas for my descriptions pls send help.
