Description

This was my first solo PC Build. A dream of mine for a bit now - and defintely a monster and overkill in many respects. Mostly to be used for 4k video editing - but also for gaming. The Case was a no brainer due to size and the hot swappable bays around back - which aren't in use yet but will be shortly.

The motherboard - overkill for sure. But holy crap the convenience of having all of those ports on the right side of the MOBO - insane! Why isn't this the standard design?? Also the fanless board makes the whole machine completely silent. Not even a whisper while gaming on ultra everything and GPU only ever got to 37% load. This thing is a monster.

gen 4 nvme SSD is stupid fast, CPU is blazing fast, everything is fast - I'm in love.

Huge thanks to r/buildapc as I wouldn't have been able to do it without them.

Part Reviews

CPU

Very fast- factory boost is pretty awesome so far.

CPU Cooler

I didn't use the included fans but instead swapped them for 3x QL 120s. Easy to install - no issues with anything so far! I wish the USB was done differently on the pump head - but I knew it was like that before I ordered.

Motherboard

HOLY CRAP BATMAN. THis board is insane. Yes it's expensive, yes it's overkill, yes it's ridiculous to spend this on a board, but it is fantastic. Worked out of the box with Ryzen 9 Zen2 3950X - Ports are mostly on the right - which was amazing and made cable management that much better. The LEDs aren't very bright - but I have enough RGB in here to blind an alien so maybe that's why they look Dim? BIOS is GREATLY upgraded from previous versions. I'm on F11 now and it is fast and smooth. I liked the extender cables that came with - and the lack of IO shield as it's made so well was nice.

it is super freaking heavy though - never had a oard way so much - but the whole thing is essentially a heatsink with armor everywhere as there's no fan - so that's why it's heavy. AND SILENT.

Overall amazing board so far.

Memory

The RGB is nice, the latency is nice. Running on XMP and getting advertised speeds/CAS

Storage

B-B-B-Blazing fast! gen4 pcie NVME m.2 - who knew these could be so quick and so affordable. TRhis is where my OS and programs live. Will be adding a 2TB one soon for videeo files in the editing step of my workflow.

Storage

Quick and it does what it says it does. I use this to hold games and docs mostly.

Video Card

This card is huge. and heavy, and a pain to install on a vertical bracket, but GOD is it worth it. RGB is gorgeous, fans are loud at full blast - but they only get there on boot. Gaming on long sessions never even ramp up as this thing stayed at or under 60 the whole time on ULTRA everything.

one dumb thing is they send you drivers on an included CD - seriously. LMAO - I download anyway - but I mean what's the point of a CD?

Case

I love this case. I'm giving it 4 because the documentation sucks. as a First Time builder - and I get it most first timers won't go this big - I could've used a better book. But the case itself is gorgeous and the RGB strip and control panel are nice. Overall a great case. Plenty of room to build in - 4 hot swappable 3.5" trays in the back. Glass panels are sexy. A++

Power Supply

Cables are STIFF af. Get extensions at least. Other than that a great little PSU.

Case Fan

BRIGHT, Quiet, and the silver center is a nice touch. 7 of these in my case and no regrets! The lighting node core is Badass too.

Custom

This works perfectly. Got it as my ridiculous MOBO only had ONE USB 2 header and I needed 3.

This is beautiful! Did you have to mod the case for the vertical bracket?

How did you connect the 7 ql fans together? did you only use a lightnind node pro or you went with the commander pro?

Hey fam....I had picked out a lot of parts that are similar to ur of and I was just looking for ppl that had similar parts...so I had a few questions 1-Is there any particular reason u went with the Gigabyte GPU...or did u pick it cuz of the motherboard? 2-How did u cable manage it so well...is it because of cable mod?

My guess for the gpu is the built in water cooling (the same reason that I'll be getting this gpu).

Srsly?...I didn't know that lol...is the water cooling good?

I picked it for the RGB and the watercooling. lmao. Cable management is due to extensions and bc of the bracket from cablemod.

Holy ****, this is one of the most beautiful builds I've seen! Everything comes together perfectly and I bet it performs even better than it looks!

I'm in the process of finalising a similar build and was wondering how you've found the QL120s as case fans. Obviously they look stunning, but have you found that they move enough air? What kind of temps are you getting?

I never break 56 lmao. amazing fans. well idk they never ramp up bc everything is watercooled.
