Description

Hey guys,

This was a great experience for me building my first time. I had a ton of fun and i love my new PC!

Obviously this is a budget build, i had a budget of about $600 dollars and i had to save a while to get that. I didn't spend all of my money in my budget because i had to factor in Canadian taxes :( i actually ended up going about $30 over budget because of taxes, even though i cut my budget a bit. Canadian taxes suck. Anyway. this build has been great for me, unfortunately, i haven't been able to do much gaming because i spent a lot of my money building the PC and have no money to buy games, so ill be relying on Free games and demos for a while :( Now, my parts:

CPU- I love this thing. the price/performance ratio is exceptional, and i haven't even got to OC yet.

RAM- Cheap, 8 GB, High speed, all i need.

MOBO- Biggest mistake in this build, i was kind of stupid when i ordered it, it lacks good features that are in other boards that are barley more expensive. Probably my first upgrade

HDD- This is pretty straight forward, i could care less about fast boot times right now and 1TB should suffice for me.

GPU- I am really enjoying this thing. Like the CPU, the performance for the price is solid. I might upgrade later, but not for a while.

CASE- Another mistake i would say, it does the job, cheap, sleek, but fairly loud and hard to work in.

PSU- Solid PSU, cant really go wrong with Corsair, quality, modular, good price, it will last me a while.

I am grateful for all the help i received from this community. Just a couple of things:

  • Please, if its not constructive, no need to criticize to much. Don't get me wrong i like input, just not insults.

  • Don't tell me that i could have spent X amount more and got a better product. This was absolute max for my budget so i couldn't of afforded it.

Thanks for the help guys. I am loving gaming, programming, and everything else on this machine. :)

Moops 3 points 15 months ago

Nice build!

Hows that Cooler Master fan? I really like the LEDs on it.

aaronklus submitter 1 Build 1 point 15 months ago

Thanks! Its pretty quiet and the LEDs are very bright. Only $5, it works for me!

Moops 1 point 15 months ago

Yeah I love the look of the Corsair SP/AF fans but I'm having a hard time justifying their cost. Definitely gunna have to see if they got any red versions of yours.

That's a Canadian link however, just find them on the American site.

how does the 750k perform compared to the fx-4100?

aaronklus submitter 1 Build 1 point 15 months ago

I wouldn't know personally as i haven't been able to try the FX-4100 but i hear the Athlon performs better.

Check this out: http://cpuboss.com/cpus/AMD-FX-4100-vs-AMD-Athlon-X4-750k

FreeFireXI 3 Builds 1 point 15 months ago

Only problem I see with this, is no upgrade path if you want one. AM3 should get the edge in case you want to upgrade.

aaronklus submitter 1 Build 1 point 15 months ago

Ya, i just couldn't afford an AM3. This was good for me.

FreeFireXI 3 Builds 2 points 15 months ago

Totally. If it's price. I'm all for the 750k. It's nice. I was just stating for the reply and not your build. :) The build itself is solid.

aaronklus submitter 1 Build 1 point 15 months ago

Ya thanks for the input i appreciate it! I would have liked to have gone with the 8320 or 8350, but i can only dream :/

Thanks!

Its been going great for me. Ive been able to play the WarFrame Beta on Steam (Pretty good looking game IMO) and it handles it at all max settings with 60-65 FPS

I like it!

Maximation 2 points 15 months ago

What kind of programming do you do? Really nice budget build. Maybe you should have picked the R9 270. I believe it's about the same price as the 7850, but better. And if you overclock it a bit it will be much better.

aaronklus submitter 1 Build 1 point 15 months ago

I do JS, java, HTML/CSS, pytohon etc... I just looked at the 270, in Canada its about $60 more than the 7850, it is a nice card, though. I like mine because it comes factory overclocked,so i dont need to mess around with that :)

Maximation 1 point 15 months ago

Cool stuff! Mjeah 60$ more is too much for someone on a tight budget. Overclocking a GPU is actually one of the easiest things to do, but if it is factory overclocked the warranty is still valid. If you overclock it manually and something happens to it, there is no warranty anymore. But there is not a whole lot that can go wrong while overclocking a GPU.

YES!!!! HE DIDNT FALL FOR BEATS! GREAT CHOICE ON THE AUDIO-TECHNICA'S

JoshTheTimeLord 2 points 1 month ago

This is old but I really like this build. I need to build a computer in a similar budget range so this was nice.

fsma92 2 Builds 1 point 15 months ago

I totally agree on the motherboard.. and msi A75 would of done the job much better for barely 10$ more.. :/

aaronklus submitter 1 Build 2 points 15 months ago

Ya i realized that after i finished, oh well. Upgrade later.

fsma92 2 Builds 1 point 15 months ago

can't u sent it back?

aaronklus submitter 1 Build 2 points 15 months ago

P.S. i noticed in one of your builds your using the BitFenix Merc Alpha too. Opinions?

fsma92 2 Builds 1 point 15 months ago

I paid 60$ (50$) for mine including taxes.. for the price it was decent.. i t allows decent cable management.. check my pictures..

only reason it's ugly is because it has no rubber grommets and you can see the ugly blue cables. I didn't find it hard to work with at all..

And loud, it might be the fans fault.. or the cpu heatsink.. I had a big GPU in it and it was loud because the gpu WAS loud lol..

Nari 1 Build 1 point 15 months ago

Love this build! Looking to do one like this myself. Great part selection. Enjoy man!

aaronklus submitter 1 Build 2 points 15 months ago

Thanks man! Good luck with that, the build is one of the most fun parts!

Nari 1 Build 1 point 15 months ago

Without a doubt. Built my own about a year ago,had the building bug ever since. Looking to do one of these as a console replacement for someone. I just have to find someone to convince not to buy a PS4/Xbone, haha.

aaronklus submitter 1 Build 2 points 15 months ago

Yeah, i just built and now i wanna do it again :/ i wish i could convince some of my friends how much better PC gaming, but they're pretty set on Xbox/PS4

sqielyr 1 point 15 months ago

As a future upgrade you may want to upgrade the mobo and cpu instead of just the mobo. So you can switch to an am3+ socket or whatever newer socket is out at the time of you upgrading.

aaronklus submitter 1 Build 1 point 15 months ago

Thanks for the input!

Agentpig 1 point 8 months ago

Could have gotten a better graphics card for cheaper still good build
