So it started off when I finished my exams and decided that I wanted to build a whole new PC for the start of university. This is my first build so please be kind, around 2 months of research and waiting had gone into this! I swear I mus have changed it a good ten times, before finally thinking what the hell I'll just make the best beast of a system I can afford. I'll mainly be doing this for uni work (doing software engineering) and casual gaming. Yes that is my PS3 on the side and as much as I love it, I only play FIFA online, Uncharted (all 3 are amazing) and Assassin's Creed, but as of now I'm only playing GTA 5.
Prior to this I'd only done a few laptop and phone repairs, so this was completely new to me. The build took around 3 hours, cable management was a true pain! Once everything was connected and working, I probably stared at the cables for around 15 minutes just thinking how the hell I was going to do this, but I managed it.
I was really amazed at the SSD, that thing is just a little wider than my phone! And it is truly rapid. This was my first attempt at overclocking, I had my mate on the phone helping me out whilst I was doing it last night, exciting! I know the value in the photo is different to the right hand side but I just though I'd be better off leaving it at 4.2GHz, been running AIDA64 for a few hours now, getting good temps so I'm thinking of sticking with this and returning to adaptive mode in the bios.
I'm planning on getting a second screen, but that'll mainly be for the PS3 or if I have something to do and I want to watch football, my desk depth is just about the size of the case, hence the mATX form factor (love the case it just looks so sleek!), I am planning on extending the depth a little so the case will fit on frontwards, but just for now I have it side on, plus a new keyboard and mouse would be nice, this one I just found laying around in my cupboard so it'll be good for now.
I reckon I've got a machine to last me around 5 years or more... I mainly bought the parts from Amazon and Ebuyer, but I just waited till there was some good bargains about and I feel that I've spent the money well, and stuck to my sub £1500 budget!
Installing the back exhaust fan was a pain! The screws wouldn't go in properly, I used the case screws and the ones that came with the fans but it was just too much of a tight fit, the screws aren't on very tight but the fan is stable so far, help would be appreciated with that.
